Unless the event is roped off and you have to pass through a metal detector or security, you can carry.

Your permit is good in all of N.Y. except the 5 boroughs, federal buildings, and police stations.

Even if there is a no ccw sign posted, in NYS, that sign does not carry the weight of law. The worst they can do is ask you to leave if they discover it.

If they do, you are doing it wrong.

It appears that the State Park is a "section" of the Fair Grounds. Is this an accurate assessment? Appreciate your insight!
It would definitely be illegal to carry at the state park within the fairgrounds. The scary part is that it's an invisible line and you won't know when you actually enter the unconstitutional zone.

When I went last time, there were signs at the entrances stating "no weapons". I don't know if this is written into law or just a sign but they weren't searching individuals, just bags. Being that the fairgrounds is most likely government property, they could have passed a law restricting CCW and the sign would have the force of law.

I have carried at the fair whenever I have gone. I don't recall any signs, this must be something new. Guns aren't banned from the general grounds or there wouldn't be a gun show there. The state park section is most likely a no go because it's part of the park system.

I went yesterday, there are large signs at all entrances stating "no guns, knives, weapons, etc." but they don't search your person, just bags. I exercised my legal right with no concern what-so-ever (**** 'em) but do remember to stay out of the "State Park" area. Have fun!

When I see a sign that says no guns etc it always makes me think of other signs existing that would say "No Freedom of Speech Here", "Do not pursue life, liberty, or happiness beyond this point."

Well as I read these i ponder..if I am carrying under my clothing or attached to my ankle with pants on, as I always do(everywhere almost) why would I worry bout a fairgrounds or middle of nowhere while i hike in state grounds. I would rather have my kids or myself be alive should anything/anyone attack me or them, rather then wondering if i should carry as i read the paper sign printed at the entrance off the office printer by a teenager working for the day.,thats jus me though..id rather do the ooohh I didn't know im sorry, then be dead.
