The news reported that they had approx. 750 guns turned in, WHAT A STUPID MISTAKE Buffalo has made!

here are my reasons for thinking this gun buyback is a waste and shouldnt be happening! let me know what you think!!!

I will use "BG" for bad guy

Tell me how logical this is, you have scumbag gang bangers and wanna be gangters running around with guns shooting each other, bystanders, children, police and anyone else in their way, WHY WOULD YOU GIVE THEM SUCH A EASY WAY OUT TO GET RID OF THE GUNS? The way I see it is that if a "BG" has a gun and wants to get rid of it he has to sell/trade it to another "BG" right? In selling it to another "BG" the gun is still on the streets and has a chance of being found by a police officer! yes, I understand that the gun may be used in crimes if its on the streets, and not turned in at the "gun buy back" however there are so many guns out there that these people have an endless supply! LEAVE THE GUNS ON THE STREETS!!!!!! If a police officer pulls over a "BG" and he has a gun on him maybe they might be able to give closure to a family who lost a loved one, or put a murderer behind bars, AT LEAST SOMEONE IS BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE for having the gun!

Here is a great scenario for you all!

"BG" pulled over for speeding, runs the "BG" license and BOOM warrent and he arrests him! Now its time to tow and inventory of the car.. OHHH look they found a gun. All of the sudden this "BG" knows hes in BIG trouble and decides to "TALK"!!!!! LOOK HOW SIMPLE IT IS....90% of these modern wanna be gangsters roll on eachother....now the police can arrest who sold him the gun, and possibly get their supplier, and then avelanche begins!!! With just this one traffic stop and finding a gun who knows maybe 10 people can be put behind bars!!!!

THE ABOVE is my point of view! the more guns that get turned in the more crimes go unsolved, and the more families will never have closure!!!!!! and one last point---- How about this "BG" shoots a cop, is scared and affraid and now wants to get rid of the gun, "OHH look the mayor is having a gun buy back perfect now i can get rid of it without worrying about it getting back to me!"

THE GUN BUY BACK IS POINTLESS AND SHOULD BE ENDED! sorry for the rant and rave lol what do you guys think?

On another note, if COBIS were still in effect or (god forbid) micro stamping ever passed wouldn't those programs undermine the effectiveness of those as well? Buy a gun, report it stolen, use it in a crime then turn it in to a buyback program to be destroyed and all evidence gone forever....
agreed! but the problem is with pistols if you have to report one stolen or whatever id be willing to bet your permit will get pulled!!!!!

The only problem with your logic is the so called "BG" aren't turning in crime guns. People are turning in old war relics that don't work or people with guns in their house who don't want to deal with them. Such as old widows. At least this is the case in Rochester, Buffalo might be different. Really it's just a way for people to make a quick buck on old worthless guns.
yes and no!!!! you would think that the "BG" were not bringing those guns in but you would be suprised!!!!! they prob. got their baby mommas bringing them in!!!!! and yes alot of old folks and antique guns!!!!! id say the majority are from gang bangers

If leaving guns on the streets will increase the chance of a criminal getting arrested while in possession of it wouldn't the next step in your logic be to increase the supply of weapons on the street to further increase the odds?

I think you are very mistaken if you think any BG is turning in a working firearm that could be sold on the street for more than the turn in value.
So why dont you fill us all in on where you stand on this, do you agree with the buy back?

Hypothetically speaking "you are in a gang, you have a gun that shot an officer in your possession
What are you gonna do with the gun? U gonna give it to one of your friends, or just hold onto it? Or better yet sell it to someone you dont trust and when they get caught with it they snitch on you? Or u could throw it somewhere and hope it doesnt turn up? NOPE ur gonna turn it in at a buyback and get $ for it even though its minimal!
