So i'm watching Ch. 2 News tonight and they run the story of the City of Buffalo's gun buy back program and they show a WWII German MP-44 that was turned in.

Buffalo Buyback program nets 840 guns

They show the MP-44 @ 55 second mark.

When I flipped to CH. 4 News they show their segment on the gun buy back and mention the rifle.

What a shame this piece of history is now gone.

I'm sure it found its way into someone's private collection. I'm glad. If you're going to fall for these scams, you deserve to be ripped off. They're just getting burglarized way sooner than we expected.
Thats right those buy back guns don't all go to the scrap mill, when there is a gun buy back there is a Selected Dealer that comes in and rescues the high dollar pieces that might turn up, all guns get the back ground check to see if they are stolen and if they are registered to another and listed as stolen they will be return, so I am told by a good source.

Good lord I hope someone rescues that beauty it would be a damn shame to have some old timers war prize destroyed; not to mention I'm sure that it's incredibly rare if it's authentic.

Put it in a box. Or you get a sock...make sure that nothing is gonna hit the trigger. Put it in the trunk of your car.
If you get it here......

Ummm....when I reviewed New York firearms laws, I did not find any way to legally transport a pistol without having it registered on your permit. So, if the police at the buyback felt so inclined, couldn't they arrest anyone trying to turn in a pistol that wasn't registered?

Wait a minute. I lost that in a "boating accident" on Lake Erie right before the unSAFE act was passed.
Quick...call the police and tell them that your lost property has been found. Let them know that you don't want to register it now, you just want to sell it out of state through an auction.

So on the buy back day,"no officer, I was taking this unregistered handgun on my front seat to the buy back. I swear. "

That's fine...until the officer decides to escort you to the buyback where you have to hand in your custom 1911 for a $10 gift card in order to stay out of jail.

Ha ha. I doubt this would apply to most of us that have permits. I was thinking more of those along the lines of Missouri

That's what I was thinking too- Airborne mentioned in another thread how NYC has an "any time, any police station" policy to turn in a handgun- so anyone carrying an unregistered / illegally obtained handgun can simply state that that's where they were going.....

...whereas a legal CCW holder from ANYWHERE outside the 5 boroughs would become a felon faster than Andrew could sign the unSAFE act

Doesn't the 14th Amendment guarantee equal justice and protections under the law or some such silliness? Why are more and more of the lefts' laws heavier handed to the law abiding TAX PAYING working people than the recidivist violent criminals, generationally inherited welfare class and illegal trespassers/ foreign invaders????
