Crime rates drop in New York City, across state - Metro.us

Research results released on Thursday found New York State has the lowest crime rate in 20 years, though the city still accounts for 69 percent of all violent crimes reported in the state.

Violent crimes, which rose in New York City from 2009 to 2012, fell about 1 percent from 2012 to 2013. NO SAFE Act at that time.

During the last year, the number of reported aggravated assault and larcenies increased slightly. Murders dropped from 419 in 2012 to 335 in 2013, and burglaries and motor vehicle thefts were down by about 10 percent each.
The research, based on FBI data, was recently published by the PEW Charitable Trusts, and also found the state incarcerations are significantly down. AHHHHH no mo stop and frisk

The lower rates were driven in part by a decrease in the number of reported crimes in New York City, which is down by 73 percent since 1990. Key word is reported crime since 1990 14 years ago what kind of anaylisis is that?

New York State was the safest large state in the U.S. in 2012, according to the study, and the third-safest state overall behind Idaho and North Dakota.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office sent out the results on Thursday, calling New York a "true example of how safety and fairness can coexist."
WTF are you talking about dipstick? Where is the safety and what fairness?

It only appears that the crime rate has dropped because a lot of the criminal activity has moved from the streets to Albany.

The safe act and "common sense" gun control work. See. Just look. That's what we will hear from politicians and anti gunners even though safe wasn't in place at the time. They don't care about facts. They have proven that time and time again.

It's the same thing that is happening in Baltimore, where crime is rampant, but not reported or recorded. People are attacked and beat up by young black punks, and it is not reported as crime. Loads of thefts and muggings that are also not reported. The mayor there claims that she cut the crime rate in half. LOL.

See! The SAFE Act worked! The criminals heard about it even before it was passed, and realized the jig was up! All hail the King!

Funny how they announce the drop in crime rate in NYC with all kinds of pomp and circumstance. Then quietly, they also announce that the crime rate in NYC parks, which is supposed to be announced June 1st, is delayed possibly until December. Coincidence?

shootings are actually UP in NYC. The fact that less people happen to die from the shootings is of no consequence. We all know that 80% of people shot with "death ray assault weapon" handguns survive. Couple that with the gangsta technique of shooting sideways, having NO formal training or any kind of accuracy ability, and its kind of a crap shoot (no pun intended) of whether they actually hit their target criminal/ innocent victim. The point is that the INTENT to kill via shooting is up. The SAFE act does nothing, and once again we have misleading crime stats telling us to "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." Sickening.

Even as shootings rise, murder rate falls in New York City | Reuters

There has been a particular uptick in shootings over the past month, with 121 victims of gunfire over a 28-day period ending Sunday, compared with 86 for the same period last year, marking a 41 percent increase
Thank god for the safe act and the NYPD, NO REPORTS OF "ASSAULT WEAPONS" being used in any of these crimes......uuuum you guys with AR-15's are to blame for the this mess in NYC.......:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

I dont care if was proven to bring down crime, "Stop and frisk" is Not Constitutional!
You cant have it both ways!

Anti gunners feel that obstructive firearms laws (Safe Act and DC) make things better and safer.

Either you believe in unalienable rights or you dont, no Picking and choosing judged by the color of skin.
