Sorry, I got bored and skipped through most of this thread. Have to read the fine print where the money donated to ILA goes; I'm thinking higher % than the overall organization. You also need to keep in mind that the stats are prepared at the end of their fiscal year, so assuming they already covered their costs, incrementally every extra dollar donated goes to the cause. I'm a life member and already gave separately to ILA this year. Received the same e-mail today. When I get home, I'll send them another $125 even though I can't really afford it and will probably catch hell from my wife tomorrow. Franky if $0.05 goes towards defeating Obama this Nov I'll rest peacefully. Its not about what's in it for me in NY, its about the country. Thanks for posting.

If you want to give money to defeat Obama perhaps a donation to Mitt might have been more in order. That NRA email is a joke. Do they actually think people are dumb enough to believe they beat Kerry and Gore?

What makes you think I haven't already? Also read the fine print there, you'd be surprised where the money goes (e.g. Donations to Mitt could wind up in MA or IA GOP coffers etc.

Personally, I think it is much more likely than not that Obama will be defeated in Nov. Just my opinion and I've been pretty clear about it for months. If the NRA wants to do some advertising to gun owners in swing states, I'm all for it.

On a personal note, what I choose to do with my money is no concern of yours or anybody elses for that matter. Suggest you worry about your own affairs and not mine.

Then don't post that you just gave more money to the NRA to defeat Obama on a forum. If you post something in public expect comments. My affairs are in order. I donate money to worthy causes and participate in fundraisers all the time. I just don't brag about it and give the dollar amounts in public.

Not bragging, I was responding directly to the OP. Never suggested or implied anyone else should do the same or differently for that matter. Never requested opinions where my contribution would be better served.
