Just finished most of my pistol permit paperwork. Quick question, how specific should I answer the question "Do you have experience with firearms?" Over my life, I've shot rifles, pistols, and things like airguns/BB guns with my father and friends throughout my life. However, I would call myself a beginner overall. Should I just say yes, but mention what I mention here?

I guess I don't want to overstate any experience but it is not "zero."

Any guidance would be helpful.

Sorry for the delay in answering.

Yes, just state your experience the way you put it above. You do not need experience, but they do like to see it, even if it is just some experience.
