If I may put my 2 cents in. The process isn't bad at all, compared to other counties. The safety class, put on by Rodney Preston in case you were wondering, isn't bad.
As for going to the public safety building to get fingerprints done....YOU ARE ENTERING THE JAIL, of course there is a no hostage policy. I know many in the jail aren't happy go lucky types, but they all are putting themselves in harms way, and pulling a deputy off station to do fingerprints shifts things for them. My advice is to call ahead to the Sheriff's office and let them know you are coming to do this, and make sure that you are not coinciding with shift change (it gets nuts there).
Oh and card style permits are only $5.....get it, it is a better way to go
