I have a Winchester 94AE Saddle ring with a 16'' barrel that just beats the heck out of me. Anyone else in the same boat? Don't get me wrong I love the gun, but she's a plinker for me, would anyone know if anyone makes lighter loads than 150 gr. Or would I just have to buy some new brass and press my own?

my guess is you can load down from factory as far as fps which should roll back the recoil. with all the cowboy stuff out there my guess would be there is factory reduced lead loads as well. maybe just google 30-30 cowboy ammo or loads.

I have the same gun, never noticed that it kicked hard, at least not when I was shooting at a deer. At the range, everything seem to thump me. Remington did at one time sell a line of ammo that was supposed to be reduced recoil, usually a lighter bullet. Not sure if it is still available.

I've found a cowboy load.
Ammo 30-30 Winchester 165 Grain Lead Flat Nose Box of 20
A bit pricey, but I'll try a box when they get back in stock. Now I can see my next worry is to like them too much and want to reload to same load and get into casting with gas checks and such...

I shoot a 14" 30-30 with no problems. Actually one of my favorite guns to shoot.

Federal makes a 125gr load. That cowboy load should also work nicely.
