I was shopping online for .50 ammo and I noticed that sometimes APIT (armor piercing incendiary tracer) was close in price to ball ammo. Also I have seen "Raufoss" or incendiary AR and AK ammo on various websites. Knowing NY it would seem like this stuff would be illegal; does anybody know the answer or where I can find the answer?

there aren't any for 50BMG. here is a link to a good place to get assorted BMG rounds. i picked up several hundred rounds a few years ago and it was super clean and accurate.

Penal law has the info you'll need on ammunition.
Look under article 265 'definitions'.

The short of it:
The only thing really restricted is armor piercing, frangible or exotic material projectiles for handgun ammunition.
