Today the Suffolk County Court Employees Association voted 618-121 to REJECT a horrible F U A C contract offer. Just another nail in the coffin, there are MANY people in Suffolk who will gladly vote against F U A C.

Rob needs to get out there ASAP, this is not the Electoral College. Every vote counts.

What was the contract offer?
0,0,0,2 (not payable until Ocober so really 1%), 2,2
Up to SIX lag days (work but don't get paid until you retire
Increases in Heath Insurance premiums from 25% of the State premium to 31% (that is NOT a 6% increase, it is a 24% increase).\
Elimination of comp time accrual
And the biggie:
Elimination of the 20 year longevity bonus
Elimination of the first and second longevity steps (added to salary)
Replace with a "bonus".

Now keep in mind, if you promote, you keep your salary and get the promotional increase.

Under the offer, you would lose any longevity "bonus" and have to wait 4 and 8 years over the new "max" (which could take a few more years to reach) to get the "bonus".

Longevity steps take place 4 and 8 years after reaching max, which for a new Court Officer trainee hire, for example, two years to get a line increase out of "trainee", then 8 years to get to "max", so that is 10-12 years depending on the hire and promotion dates (everything is fiscal year based, get hired March30 you get a step increase the next day, get hired April 2, you get a step increase in 364 days).
So, if you NEVER promote, the current first longevity step kicks in between years 14 and 16, the second between years 18 and 20. But once you get there, you never go backwards.

Under the defeated proposal, there would never be any incentive to take a promotion, since that would set you back and earn you less than just staying in title.

IT was a terrible offer, by the STATE. ALL contract offers originate with the GOVERNOR.

SO this is is giant F U A C

Forget what you think is fair or right, just go with the opportunity for Rob to make soon to be broken promises.

FIFY. There are other reasons to take promotions. Not necessarily as significant as the money side of it, but there are other reasons.
