These killing sprees likely happen more often than anyone is willing to admit. The media is on high alert jumping on each and every one of these stories, especially when firearms are involved. It'll probably be like this all the way through the election.

Something tells me the shooter is a ******* and probably thought this temple was full of muslim's. Just a guess.

James
I was thinking the same thing as he thought it was a muslim place. My concern is they might try to use this as a way to screw with our gun rights. If that had been many churches at least some of the people would have been armed ( myself included).

My thoughts go out to the victims.

No amount of laws will stop these trageties. I think we the people and the government need to be honest and realize that people need to defend themselves first and foremost. What I would suggest and would like my tax dollars to go towards is a national voluntary program where law abiding citizens can get trained in firearms, hand to hand combat, and basic life saving skills. The people who are unfortunate enough to be at these places could all be first responders and minimize loss of life by stopping the threat and giving basic treatment of people on the scene until police arrive. This training will also benefit people during natural disaster, terrorist attack and so on.

Could be, we'll have to wait and see. Sikhism is a separate religion, not Hindu or Muslim. Anyone hear what type of weapon was used?

Great job by the police. Prayers for the officer who was ambushed by this dog while assisting the victims.

Seems like he just used one or two regular, non-ultra-tactical, non-fancy-parts handguns. Probably because he didn't want them to malfunction. Unfortunately for him, that one LEO caused a fatal malfunction in the shooter himself...

Media focus initially seems to be more on the 'hate crime' aspect, but we'll see. Of course, the usual suspects will use this as a way to try and push for the usual revocation of freedoms.

"According to police, 911 dispatchers received multiple calls from the temple at approximately 10:25 a.m. local time. An officer who responded to the scene was treating a victim when he was "ambushed" by the suspected gunman in the parking lot, Oak Creek Police Chief John Edwards said. The veteran officer was shot multiple times and rushed to Milwaukee's Froedtert Hospital where he underwent surgery, Edwards said.
The suspect was shot and killed by a second officer, police said. The gunman was not identified, and no motive was released."

Congrats to the second officer for taking out a coward and saving tax payers money on a trial.
