Last time I was in Beikirch's they had a beautiful stainless Dan Wesson Pointman Nine 1911 -- wonderful craftsmanship. If it had been a 45 instead of a 9mm I think I would have bought it; as it is I've been real tempted...

I am also currently searching for a 9mm 1911. So far I've found the most difficult part is finding a local shop that has any in stock. I checkout out a Springfield Loaded Target yesterday and it was really nice. I want to check out the Kimber Pro Carry II and I keep getting told I need to check out the STIs and the price does look nice compared to the others.
Kimber is just up the block from my job in Yonkers and I'm getting tempted to call them directly.

I have a Rock Island Armory 9mm "Tactical", i used it in a couple of classes and at GCL's Tuesday night defensive shoot (probably 1500 rounds without an issue). I love it, Plus the price was under $500.Its finish is basic, but i bought it to be used and abused.

I am also looking for a 9mm 1911 and would like to know what you all think about Para Ordnance

extractor design sucks. they all break. YOu can fix it buy geting an adapter, but why bother, Get a Springfield/Sig/S&W. Kimbers, no thanks.

SomeSoldier : How has your Kimber been with ammo. Can you give any advice on things to look out for? I'm planning on buying a few extra 10 round mags and was looking at the Tripp Research mags.

I put some Tula steel ammo thought it which I won't do again. Gun loves the Winchester white box though. Personal defense I have Hornady ammo. I have had zero problems with my Kimber.

I've been working my way through a 1000 round box of BVAC 115g reloads and I have not had any issues with them in my G26 but I keep hearing these stories about Kimbers being picking.
