Does anyone know of any 3 gun matches in or around wny? I have heard holland has a casual shoot, but is there any legit beginner welcomIng comps?

Holland would prob be your best bet. I met a couple of the guys there and they are super friendly.

3 gun shooters are some of the nicest guys I have met, esp the pro's.

Getting the right gear the first time is critical, other than that it is just trigger time and ammo.

Rochester Brooks has 1 large 3 gun every year, and I think one or two true three gun events might exist in NY. Not many overall though, mostly due to the ****ty laws and the work it takes to put on a truly great match.

We use mostly 2 3/4" , 3 dram of 7 1/2 lead trap loads or 3 1/4 - 7 1/2 sporting clays loads. On occoasion we shoot standard slugs, either deer slugs or LE low recoil, 2 3/4" in length.

Should eat anythgn, but I usually use 1 1/8 oz loads from federal or remington, havent tried 1 oz loads yet but I think somebody else used them and had no problems.
