If there are any speed junkies out in the forum, a turbine powered 50' Mystic catamaran hit 244mph in the Lake of The Ozarks Shootout.

And here's what happens when things go wrong for 46' boat at about 180mph.

2 guys in the boat that crashed lived through it, but were badly injured. See Lake of the Ozarks Shootout: Day 1 Highlights
From what I've been reading the driver wasn't hurt to badly and exited the boat under his own power. The throttle man (and owner of the company that built the boat) was hurt pretty badly but is now in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery. Considering what they went through and the damage to the boat I think that's pretty amazing. I was surprised to see that the windshield was completely gone in the crash photos. Scary stuff.

Was windshield damaged in crash or by the team that extracted throttle man?
Definitely damage from the crash.

If there's an upside to this, it's that all the builders will probably learn how to make the cockpits even safer based on analysis of the damage. The speeds have been getting ridiculous in the past 10 years with the turbine boats.

Did you say turbine?
