Default LMI's Bi-Weekly Defensive Shoot. Canandaigua, NY

LMI currently holds a bi-weekly defensive league in Canandaigua, which is only 20 minutes S/E of Rochester.

These shoots meet every other Sunday at the Canandaigua Sportmens Club in Canandaigua. We do not cancel because it is raining, or because it is too cold. The idea is to get a group of like minded individuals together to shoot, learn, exchange ideas and opinions, train and have fun. These shoots will be tactically and defensively. YOU WILL NOT JUST STAND THERE AND SHOOT. You will be moving, you will be running, you may even be doing jumping jacks at times to get your heart racing,,,,,, You will be carrying a baby (fake one), you will be dragging a dummy, Every week is different. LMI trains real world, all the time. To simply stand in one spot and shoot is simply useless, and engrains bad habits that can get you killed in combat, or on the streets.

There will be multiple targets, shoot/no-shoot targets, barricades, and occationally LMI's shoot house and moving targets. Unlike other shoots that you may be use to (IDPA, PPS, IPSC), there will be no timing, as tactics are required, as each run will be graded as a live or die case, with as few, if any, injured good guys.

There will also be one on one shoots, to help build stress (which often results in misses). Failure to fire drills, reloads, weak hand as well as one handed shooting will occupy these scenarios.

These shoots start at 2:30, and will end around 4:30 (or later). The Cost is $10 for each hour. This fee is to help replace targets, backers, wood, and 10% goes back to the club to help with maintanance of the club.

Those interested in these shoots must email me. When you do, please let me know your preferences. This will help to manage these shoots.

To help the range, and the shooting sports, all participants must be members of the club. If you are unfamiliar with the club, once you visit once, you'll be hooked. So far 11 AR15.com guys have joined the club and participate in these shoots. Please email me and I will send you the clubs application for membership.

If you are undesided, you can always show up and shoot once without being a member, and if you enjoy the club and the shoot and you would like to return, then you can become a member of the club.

Each shoot we run both pistols and shotguns. If there is more demand, these shoots will occur every Sunday, with one Sunday being pistol, and the next shotgun.

For more info, please email me: Ronlauinger@LMIInc.com

How do sporting clays work? Is it possible to shoot them w/ an 18" barrel?

If you've never came out to shoot on a Sunday with Ron just try it once. I've been going as much as I possibly can and have noticed an exponential increase in my ability to manipulate and use my shotgun since I started. It's a great way to maintain and build upon your skill and knowledge base.

Yeah I did pretty decent with my mossberg. Obviously not as good as shooting with something like an over/under long barrel, but its fun

What's it cost at CSC and is it pretty easy to learn how to do it?

It was a great day to be out shooting today, raining, somewhat muddy, humid, and muggy. Can't ask for much better of an environment to train in! Can't wait until next time ;D.

HI ARK.. Anytime we can train in inclement weather, THE BETTER,, Mud, Rain, Wind, Fog, Wet Cloths, all good stuff (good training),,

Like I always say,, we walk around in the rain/snow, we carry our pistols in the rain/snow, so why not train in the rain/snow? Make it as real as possible and have fun doing it. ;D I am thinking of doing a little airsoft the next time, just so shooters that don't know when to pie a corner can learn real fast,,, DO NOT PIE A CORNER IF THE BAD GUY IS EXPECTING YOU,, BAD,,,,, REALLY, REALLY BAD,, ??? Just as bad as standing in front of a target, one that has a gun already pointing at you, and shooting it, without getting off the ' X '............................ first.....

Airsoft would bring the point home for many if not all, I know it would work for me. A little FoF here and there would be great. Unfortunately I won't be able to make the next shoot. Making a trip downstate.

The Next shoot is July 27th, and depending on who and how many can show up will depend on if the airsoft with markers are used on the next meet, or the one after,, Let me know guys,,

Seems this is going to be a bad weekend, we will have the typical meet at the club, with senarios and barricades, and in two weeks, I'll bring the airsoft gear ;D

This Sunday will be both Shotgun and Pistol...

Ron - if you don't mind i'll shoot a few of your rounds and just pay for what I use. I don't really know what to buy like I had said before and am not looking to really get into it, but i've never shot a shotgun before. I'll bring the camera, leaving my m4 at home though. Should be fun to watch and i'll get my membership all setup too.
