Default Stoeger Condor Outback

Ok, as some you all may know I have a ‘thing” for coach guns. Well I just got another “thing” going; it is the O/U version. The Stoeger Condor Outback over & under is (their claim) the ultimate multi-purpose shotgun. I think it do look cool and could be very functional for all the same reasons as its S/S brother and then some.

Product Details & Specifications
[blockquote]With 20” barrels, the Condor Outback is easy to maneuver and quick to shoulder, whether in tight cover or home protection situations. The 12-gauge or 20-gauge Condor Outback features 3” chambers and a box-lock type, over & under action. Extractors lift empty hulls from the chamber for easy removal.

The open, rifle-style sights include a notched rear sight and fixed-blade front sight for quick target acquisition and precise aiming. The Condor Outback shoots a wide variety of ammo, from slugs to magnum turkey loads.

Improved cylinder and modified, screw-in choke tubes are included. Accessory choke tubes include flush and extended cylinder, improved cylinder, modified, improved modified, and full.

The Condor Outback features machine-turned, jeweled monobloc sides and is available in a variety of finishes: American walnut, polished nickel, and black finished hardwood.[/blockquote]
Upon some limited research I have heard nothing bad on these...

Oh man, so many guns, so little $$$...why!

I have heard of guys using them as a brush gun with slugs loaded up and have had success. A cool gun indeed.

I picked one of these up a year ago and it has become one of my favorite guns. I've been a shotgunner for 30 years and owned a bunch, shot a bunch more. This is a great little shotty! I've put a wide variety of loads through it and it has done quite respectably. It is light weight and easy to handle. Only being a double barrel most would overlook this as a legitimate "survival" type gun or a SHTF weapon. But.... if I had to 'grab one and go' I'd probably reach for this one. A simple, reliable, muti-purpose shotgun.

Top, you sir said a mouthful. How do you like the sights? They seem a bit odd to me...

The rifled sights are easy to get used to. I haven't used it for clays or skeet. I imagine that would probably require making a few adjustments. Hope this was helpful.

Ive always had a thing for both the SxS and O/U stoegers...they just seem like timeless classics. One of my buddies picked up an O/U and even with the shorty barrel the things fun for skeet and is an all around great gun

The defense model seems pretty nifty...the underrail is a great idea for a flashlight...Gander had a couple that they threw some accessories one...ones was a vertical grip/light combo and then a red-dot...I can see all those serving a purpose...the other however had a laser sight under the barrels...that just doesnt seem to strike me as anything but silly...

The "double defense" is about as high tech as think you can go with a SXS without being absurd. It's cowboy tactical for the 21st century. That seems counter intuitive when there are so many modern configurations of the shotgun. It does however speak to the timeless simplicity and reliability of the coach gun. IMHO, it's a bit pricey - if they dropped the price by $100 they'd sell like hot cakes.
