The ones in rochester that I have found are:

Ontario Rod and Gun Club (doesn't answer their phone when I call)

GCL (darkvibe is a member there, but it is expensive)

Rochester Brooks (Down in rush, also expensive, but really really nice facility)

Canadaigua Shooting Club (Obv in canadaigua, got good recommendation from a local guy)

I'm either going to join GCL or Canadaigua I think.

eventually the cops are just going to stop coming when they call.

I'm planning on signing up for GCL and Canadigua, myself.. GCL is nice if you want to go on a rainy day, it's covered and such.. It's probably nice in the winter as well. As for Canadigua It'll be a nice shoot n' scoot range.

The indoor facilities at GCL are great. But if you don't have a pistol permit, like myself currently , your really limited to what you can do indoors. Since they don't allow 9mm rifles indoor on .22lr. I wasn't a fan of the outdoor facilities because I don't do long range shooting currently or have a pistol. GCL is a great range for pistol owners, action range and I believe they are building another. As soon as I get my permit I will renew my membership there though.

what is up with indoor ranges??? Bad, very bad, but I see it too often..

Ok Guys, don't get me wrong, but hear me out. So many guys carry pistols for personal protection but have little clue how to use it and it shows too often. When was the last time you went to the range while it was raining,,,, ran around with barricades and multiple targets, sliped alittle, shot alot, and got a good understanding that shooting in the rain is ALOT different than shooting on a smooth concrete foundation with your coat off. OK,, how about going to the range when the wind is blowing, it is 5 degrees outside and it just dumped a foot of snow.

Most of you guys carry guns in these conditions,, you go to the ATMs, the grocery stores, the party stores, etc..... and living in Western and upper New York, it is far from being a dry, warm, smooth foundation area. In the winter you wear big gloves, big coats and you wear boots, when it rains, you probably run to your car so you don't get wet??? sound familiar any one???

If you carry a weapon for personal defense, to be profficient with it means knowing how and when to use it at all distances,,, it also means knowing how and when to use it in all climates, as well as all lighting conditions.

Outdoor ranges have my vote. I hold courses all year round,, in the snow, in the rain, one class we even hit 5 degrees during training, and another class we had buckets of water that were used to keep the mud out of the magazines (water won't hurt your gun, but mud and dirt will).

Always keep training as real as it can get,,, just my opinion
