Remington® 597 VTR .22 Semi-Auto Rimfire Rifle

I saw this in the gander mountain add, does anybody know anything about these? it looks pretty sweet. i might have to upgrade my .22.they have one with the a2 style stock alsohttp://www.remington.com/products/fi...el_597_vtr.asp

I held one at my Gander the other day... I was wondering what the heck it was... Felt pretty solid. Can't really give any input on quality since I never shot one or heard anything yet on them...

Although, if I was to get a .22 AR style Rifle, I might be inclined to get the S&W MP-22, there is now a bunch of articles out there on them, and I have yet to find any that don't find it a good buy. It is the only true AR 22 built from the ground up (So they say...lol)

Gander in Henrietta has one sitting in the rack. I was not impressed at all. It's made to look like an AR from a distance but has nothing in common with an AR style rifle. The controls are different and the rifle disasembles nothing like an AR. If I were looking for a sporting/AR style .22, I would look at the M&P 15-22 or the Colt .22. All that being said, I have never shot the Remington and cannot comment on how well it shoots.

well i'm not necessarily looking for an ar style .22, but i saw it in the add and it caught my eye. time to sell or trade the savage i think

It's a 597 in wolves clothing.

The 597 is "meh" at best.

I am waiting for the NY compliant MP15-22. Comes out on Oct 9th. A bit more expensive, but by all accounts it is a fantastic .22LR AR copy. (And it shoots better then the Colt...)

Here in NY? Who knows.

In other states, people have been picking them up for between $419 and $500.

I always find it annoying that we get smaller mags and have to pay more for the privilege. >

Thats why unless its for target practice my browning buckmark/.22 single shot rifle I always go the largest calibur that I can 10 round mags suck.
