Default new mount & scope for my ar... need confirmation please

So I have a non-removable handle ar and i'm looking at this:

    http://www.mountsplus.com/miva/merch...es/SAM-3AH-OLO

This would mount into the top of the handle, and now give me a picatinny rail to mount this:

    http://www.mountsplus.com/miva/merch...IGHTS/BSA-PMRS

Am I right in what i'm asking here? Will this handle rail mounting thing work for my ar, and is the red dot sight I chose worthy, or ****ty? While I know that you get what you pay for, if this is still a decent one to buy, i'll be happy as I don't have 2, 3 or 4 hundred to spend on a top of the line one. Any info would be appreciated, thanks

I push the pin in with a bamboo skewer and turn the sight with pliers. I just put tape on the pliers so they don't scratch the finish.

Once you get the them sighted in, IS can be fun to shoot 25-50 yrds with. Always good to have a backup for when your red-dot fails...

Yeah I hear ya... and I bet it would be fun to shoot vegetables n stuff, but for target shooting, I can't agree. But in any event, one of the many things I need to learn how to do is sight in my rifle w/ the iron sites, so thats on my to do list

Have you considered an aimpoint clone? The clone I used for my .22lr was a decent piece of equipment for $75.

I don't know what that is... a brand of scope i'm assuming? Do they make red dots like the ones i've posted? I'm willing to spend a lil more to get a better product, but again I just don't know anything about optics so i'm shooting in the dark with what i'd be buying

I can't find the website, it is basically like an aimpoint but around $75. Decent quality for the price, I was impressed.

It felt good for me when I could shoot a 3" spread at 40 yrds with iron sites ;D

You don't need a tool, just take a round and use the tip of the bullet.

I bought a nice Bushnell at Gander the other day. Its $100 but I used a $25 off $100 coupon so got it for cheaper than the Truglows that have less features.

Its 28mm glass, got some light filters, red and green, 2 dots and 2 crosshairs.

Its fog, weather and impact resistant also.

They sell a similar one for $25 more that does auto shutoff. The nice lady there advised me to not bother since its more annoying than useful, so I ended up with this.

I can't wait to shoot with it, I'm sure I'm going to be satisfied.
