How Many Think There Will Be A SHTF Situation?
From my many romps into the depths of the internet, I get the general feeling that there are a higher than avage number of people worrying about a SHTF type senero...
So, do u have that feeling? If so what senero do u see happening?
Mine would be one of two:
Either a war in the middle east, or a complete failure of the world's ecomeny...proably within the next year..
I am not sure what it will be but if history has taught us anything its not if a SHTF scenario happens but when. I dont think/hope one will happen in the near future but you never know.
I try not to think about what could happen. Middle east war, just a matter of time before Israel feels the need to wipe someone out, and most likely justified, but pissing off 30% of the worlds population (The Muslims) . And then of course we will jump in, pissing off the 30% off and then some, and creating more debt. I see the big issue going forward is the need to feed the worlds increasing population. And who is going to do that? Yes, the great USA, at what cost to our own, and we'll do it for free. Well, not really, we will pay for it through increased taxes. At some point we will say F it and revolt. When will that be? Who knows, thats the fun of it right?
I was just talking about this with a coworker yesterday who grew up in former Yugoslavia and knew what streets to play on because they were not bombing them today, lol. He and his family moved to New Orleans of all places before being hit by Katrina and its aftermath. So he knows a little about SHTF in a very real way. From his perspective he's thinking about moving back to Europe, possibly Germany. Says, if we're going to turn to Socialism anyway, might as well be where the infrastructure and lifestyle is better. He thinks its coming soon and it will be the economy that drives it. He said everybody got along in Yugoslavia when the economy was strong and everyone had jobs. He said there was a lot less diversity there than here, so if it could happen in Yugoslavia he really fears what could happen here. Interesting perspective. Oh, he also said those who have guns will be the survivors and I never talk about guns at work, lol.
In One sentence.... Better safe than sorry...... I live by that creed... Can never hurt to prepare....

I don't really worry too much about natural disasters. Around here they can cause havoc for a week or two, but after that, most places will have power and be fine. The disaster we have to worry most about are ice storms. Even the ice storm of '91 only caused power outages for a week or two for most people. With the quickness that resources and people move now, it wouldn't even take a week anymore.
The thing to really worry about is financial collapse. It's only a matter of time. It may happen soon or still be a long ways away. It's only a matter of time though. I don't see a true SHTF situation in the next year or two though. The economy may no be recovering, but it's not tanking like it was a few years ago. If the dominoes start to fall in Europe, it's time to really start preparing. Right now, the dominoes are being pushed a bit, but they haven't fallen over yet.
I'm not worrying about it. But I am planning for it. I think its gonna come in a financial collapse situation which will be followed closely by a police state martial law situation.

I see us being alot like Egypt in a few months since our dictator somehow can't be impeached as well as many other "career" politicians!!!! If this truly is a govt of the people, for the people then I believe we have the right to put term limits in place!! Many problems solved right there. Another solution is to abolish the federal govt and allow the countries, I mean states, to be on their own. That would give you 50 places to choose from to live in your "most ideal" setting and forever rid yourself of the federal govt which has dismantled this republic.

Historically bad things happen all the time.
What particular scenario do I see happening?
Frankly, I don’t have a clue.
But I do know this:
Our infrastructure is fragile.
There are many events which can result in a full or partial, temporary or permanent, disruption of that infrastructure. We are, as a society, totally dependent upon that infrastructure to deliver us food, potable water and energy. A byproduct of such disruptions would most certainly be a total breakdown of our social order.
Rather than preparing for a particular event, prepare to deal with the effects of such an event, because the effects of many events are the same.
A long term power outage, a pandemic, nuclear war, asteroid impact, financial collapse or severe natural disaster can all interrupt the normal food supply system. So be prepared to feed yourself for an extended period of time. These same events can cause a loss of municipal water supply. So be prepared to supply your own potable water. These events can and probably will cause widespread social collapse. So be prepared to provide your own security.
Whatever the event, be prepared to supply your own food, water and security.
I don't think it would ever happen on a wide scale. Local maybe.
The reason I believe this is because for this to happen TPTB would have to allow it to happen. I think they like riding around in limos and private planes, going to expensive restaurants, and skiing way to much. They may have emergency bunkers built undergorund (who knows?) but they don't want to have to use them.

my biggest concern isnt food or anything like that, it would be Rx medications that many people NEED to live a normal life ( and in some cases, just to LIVE).
Food supplies can be interrupted. Needed drugs for people....cannot.
SHTF everyday, just not on the scale everyone's expecting.

I'm preparing for whatever comes..just think it is likely to be war or econimic collaspe....followed by war..IMHO, it just seems like alot of people are talking about it..might have something to do with the doomsday preppers show bringing attention to it, but I noticed it long before that show came on the air..

The world IS going to end. That's not even up for debate. Before the sun explodes it will get so big it will kill everything on earth. The problem with that is WHEN, and that is measured in Millions if not Billions of years. As for a SHTF in our lifetime...I used to think "never", now, given factors like the turd sandwich and giant douche we have running for president this year...IDK...could happen.
