Default picked up my permit application this week

I picked up my pistol permit application this week out here in Niagara county. Cant file till the 13 of next month. But glad I got the ball rolling. Quite a bit I have to get done including figuring out the application. I thought we could carry in a bar. But here in Niagara county they also have an acknowledgement forum to sign. Which includes that you may not carry in a bar even if you are not drinking. Curious as to what you guys think. Josh

Think about what? Carrying in a bar? I could care less. If you're responsible enough to carry you should be able to carry anywhere. Believe me, if you get drunk and start waving your gun around you won't have it for long.

Somebody could very easily be in a bar and not drink. Even if they are drinking why does that mean they don't have right to defend themselves? If you aren't comfortable drinking and carrying then by all means don't but that should be your decision not theirs.

I agree completely. I just dont know why they would do that. Most of the parts just re enforce actual laws as fas as carrying at a school, or letting another person use your pistol or personally buying a pistol out of state, and reporitng a stolen gun within 24 hours.

Do they acknowledge that it's not against the law? Or do they make it look like there is a law against it?

For all I know your county has a law against it. I only know it's not illegal at the state level.

I think it doesnt matter if its against the law. Because I have to sign the paper and hand it in with the permit. So I am not too sure where I stand. They blend it in as if its against the law to carry in a bar. I will have to call the permit office and inquire. Thanks.

So the worst that can happen is they take your permit away. I guess it's a personal decision on risk vs. benefit.

Engine tec did you get a non restricted permit you did not say what type that you were issued. I have a non restricted permit & I don't go into bars anyway but this is a grey area if you go in to a restaurant or a pizzaria some of the good one's have a bar in them then what ? that does mean that you can't sit down with your gun on & eat a meal there well you get the idea of what I mean I never heard of that law in any of NYS for pistol licence holders of not being able to go into a bar I would look into it for more of an explaination.

    That old saying...

I would rather be judged by 6 then carried by 12.

Havent gotten my permit. Talked to a friend of mine who put his in about 3 months ago. The sheriff just came out to his house this past weekend to do the interview. She told him its about 6 months after she hands in her paperwork. And i put mine in 2 months after him. So i gotta wait about another 8 months. :'( I think I got my first pistol picked out already. Just wish I could handle it before I put money down. Josh
