Default Journal news posts interactive Pistol permit holders map

They have made a map of pistol permit holders for Rockland and Weschester. I cannot find one purpose for this. They should post everyones address who doesnt have a gun and see what happens. The map doesnt seem very complete though but still complete BS!

Too bad they don't keep a database for dildos, vibrators and blow-up dolls. Then we could FOIA request that info and publish that fckng map!

There's not a single person with a permit where I live. How depressing.

This is awesome... This reduces the chances that Burglars are going to break into the wrong house and come up against an armed citizen... I say BRAVO..

I just checked and it even shows someone a couple streets over from me in monroe county lol.
I would sue the crap out of whoever put that together if my home or myself was targeted by criminals.

Interestingly in Putnam we have some 99,000 residents, and over 11,000 pistol licensees. In Westchester, there's some 955,000 residents and just some 16,000 licensees. I feel much safer in Putnam, lol.

Any permit holder in these counties who has a break-in or gun stolen in the near future should sue the Journal News for aiding and abetting the criminals.

True!! I respect freedom of information and the first amendment just as much as the second, but I do believe this kind of drawing attention to this information in the media (even though it is public knowledge) is taking that freedom too far and can easily be seen as harassment. The first thing I thought about when I saw this publication was the same type of thing done for sex offenders. And that is what I'm sure many of us thought of.

And yes, this was stupid as well because it gave criminals targets. It's true that this stuff is public knowledge, but most criminals are not so resourceful that they would research something like this. Handing it to them on a silver platter makes even the stupidest and least resourceful criminal much more of a danger.

What crime have we committed to be treated like this?!

Who would like to send a letter to each and every address on that list that lets them know they are on a map akin to the ones used for keeping track of child molesters against their will and without any warning or consent? I bet if only 1/4 of them sued the guy that set this up would be broke.
