Orange county interview

Dropped off my packet yesterday a week after getting fingerprinted. The investigator I gave it to said he could not interview me until mental check comes back from Albany. He said it could take from 3 to 6 weeks. After they get it back they will call me and make and appointment for and interview. After the interview the application goes to the county clerk and judge because I have never been arrested. My question is does it really take 3 to 6 weeks for probably a 5 minute check and after the interview how long does it take?

When I did mine I came back 2 days after fingerprints to give them everything, it took about 2 weeks until they called and about 15 minutes for the interview....The judge never called me for an interview.

like 4 months, the entire process took me right around 6 months. Mine also fell over the holidays so that prolonged stuff a bit with the judge having time off and what not.

I dropped off my packet on Dec 15th. The woman there did my initial interview right on the spot. Ive called back to check on it last week and the nasty woman at the permit office told me that my paperwork was still at the SO.

None of my references have been called yet. Will the references definatley be contacted? I know that some times the judge will not interview you, so could contacting the references go either way as well?

Not definately. None of mine were called.

hey 99 did you get any information yet? i dropped mine off nov 23 2011 i called today and the "nasty lady" told me it has not
left the sheriffs office WTF. My wife called 10 mins later another lady pics up sweet as apple pie and tells her its on judges freehills desk for signing.....

Nothing yet, but i did call about a month ago, and had the pleasure of speaking with that nasty woman who told me the same thing. I should call up today and ask again. What did you ask, exactly? Did you tell them you were checking on the status? Ive been afraid by asking someone will just take my file and shove it right back under the pile

im in the same boat, had my interview done on december 27th and was told should know within 4 months, i called county clerks office yesterday and was told it was it at the sheriffs office, so i placed a called to the sheriffs office to check make sure everything was okay and it was not held up or somehow misplaced, i had to leave a message and i asked for a call back but did not get one today so i will be calling again tomorrow.

Kflo i hope, it would be nice to have a full carry. my buddy and i dropped off the apps the same day he got his permit on tuesday he did have an interview with judge berry last week

Did your buddy have any spots on his record that te judge wanted to talk to him? Did you talk to the sheriff about yours yet??

as far as having a spot on his record. Im a stone cold criminal compared to my friend lol...... i dont think hes ever been pulled over for anything and hes 37, and all i have is 2 no seatbelt tickets...but he does own a business maybe they catered to those that do.

Hey, just wanted to chime in with all these fellow Orange County'ers on this thread (we should petition for a forum of our own, ha, ha). Sorry, not much to add here but I wish you good luck with the process. On the bright side, I think my permit took about a year in Rockland (1997-8). Looking back, I still remember getting fingerprinted and dropping off the app, but the wait afterwards is just a blur now. It will come soon enough. It goes by fast after that, so enjoy the time while your here. Anyway, good luck.

im just waiting to get a call from thruway saying i need to come pick up my gun since there layaway is only for 3 months and its been about 2 so far and i cant pick it up until i get my permit.
