He is done as far as I know. When I called the office earlier and mentioned that I was checking the status Michelle (you should know her, I think she is the only pistol permit lady) instantly said that "once the judge has it you just have to wait", making me thing that I wasn't the only one calling recently.

Darth, I received mine yesterday. Yours cannot be far behind. The only delay would have been in the late respondent yes?

Pick it up or mail? And yes.

Also, you weren't by chance at the Tribes Hill range today were you? Just a long shot, but a few people there today recently got theirs...

Picked it up. Received a call from the Judge's Secretary to come and get it. No conversation with anyone.
I was there yesterday, from about 12:30-1:30. What were you shooting?

Well congrats very much on the permit. I wish I'd get mine soon, but I have so little faith in this county that I doubt it. Anyway, I loved that shotgun as well! xD I'll keep you updated on when my pistol permit ship finally sails in.

So here is the final update:

Got a Call from Michelle at the Judges chambers on 4/12/12 telling me that it was ready. Went to the chambers the next day, they are open from 9-4:30. Restricted to "Hunting, Fishing, Target Shooting and all other Recreational Purposes and to and from such activities."

Just shy of 12 months.$135 paid for HOW TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK CLASS, fingerprinting and to the County Clerk. Well over $1000 for 2 gimped 9mm magazines (don't need them anymore :/), Walther P99 (Gen 1, .40S&W), class, fingerprinting, photos, and County Clerk fee and gas for all the running around.

But alas, it is over. Please add the info below the line to the "Pistol Permit Information by County" thread

    ________________________________________________

    Montgomery County:

    1. Start everything by calling the Montgomery County Sheriff's office. Tell them you want a permit and would like to schedule the class.

    2. Schedule the class. THIS WILL BE YOUR LONGEST PART OF THE PROCESS! The waits for the class are LONG! Mine was 6 months. This is nothing more than a HOW TO FILL OUT THE PAPERWORK class. No firearms are discussed or shown.

    3. Criteria for the class:

    • Must be 21 to apply, but you may take the HOW TO FILL OUT THE PAPERWORK CLASS beforehand and submit the paperwork on or after your 21st, as I did.
    • No felonies/ serious offenses.
    • All paperwork is given at the class. (However as of 2012 you may need to print your own. They will tell you on the phone.)
    • $105 must be paid for fingerprinting and $5 to the county clerk. The class also costs $25.
    • 4 photos must be submitted. Each 1.5x1.5" MUST BE 4 PRINTS FROM THE SAME NEGATIVE. No polaroids. You CAN take your own non-polaroid photos, but I did mine at Walgreens. Walgreens takes passport photos and you can trim them down. NO PART OF THE HEAD MAY BE MISSING!
    • A certificate of completion of THIS class (the HOW TO FILL OUT THE PAPERWORK ONE) must be signed by a sheriff and submitted. You get this at the class.
    • Pistol down payment is REQUIRED before application is processed. Receipt must be handed in with application!
    • 4 references required. FAMILY IS OK! (Wives CAN use husbands and vica versa) OUT OF COUNTY IS OK! They will receive a questionnaire about you.
    • ALL STUFF DONE IN BLACK INK ONLY! NO EXCEPTIONS! They are 100% serious about this.
    • Application must be NOTARIZED before being submitted.

    4. After the class: Put a down payment on your pistol. Get your fingerprints scheduled ASAP. You do them BEFORE handing the application in! You need a receipt from the fingerprinting. The class will have info on scheduling them with L1 enrollment services. NOTE: L1 does not accept cash. You need a personal check or money order to give them at the fingerprinting time. Get your pictures taken. Fill out the application, have the references fill out their information CORRECTLY! (Hold their hand, it is VERY easy to mess up their part.) Take the application to a notary (most banks will do this for free for members) and have it notarized. Get a money order FROM THE POST OFFICE (NOT YOUR BANK) for $5 for the county clerk. Make a APPOINTMENT to see the county clerk to hand your stuff in.

    5. For the County Clerk (located in the Sheriff's office), bring:

    • 2 notarized copies of your application. (You get 2 at the class and both will be filled out the same way.)
    • Fingerprint receipt from L1.
    • 4 pictures.
    • HOW TO FILL OUT THE PAPERWORK course competition slip.
    • Pistol bill-of-sale (down payment receipt.)
    • Driver's Licence
    6. Wait. The background check and mental health check will take about a month. The judge signing can take 2-5 months. Mine took 4. You will get a CALL from the judges chambers saying that your permit is ready. You can then pick it up. Attached to it is your first purchase coupon for your pistol. Go to the store and get it!
    7. Amendments are all done at the judges chamber. Buy gun, take Bill of Sale there, wait 1-2+ days for Judge to sign coupon, pick up coupon and take to store and pick up gun.
