Default Filling out the Pistol Permit paperwork, have some extra questions

I did read the other posts on here about the permit paperwork but I have some extra questions. My girlfriend and I are both turning in our pistol permits. She has a squeaky clean record. I have never been placed in a jail cell in my life or ever gotten into trouble with fights or anything. I did receive a DWAI in 2002, but I was never brought to jail or placed in handcuffs. I also received a Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in 2002 (license was suspended), but the cop let me drive me home.

Does this constitute as being arrested?? Would this ruin my chances of getting a permit?? I got my license reinstated in 2003 and the AUO was dropped. I also have some other questions:

    1. Should i have my friends who have their pistol permit be my references??
    2. I heard there is a form to fill out after you get your permit that lets you carry your handgun in 13 other states (these states recognize the NY pistol permit). Is this true?
    3. Is it true that if you have bad credit, your permit will get denied?

I keep hearing so many different stories from people, I would rather get the info from the experts. Thanks in advance for the answers.

I don't know about the DWAI/AUO. Maybe someone else can answer. See my comments in red below about your other questions.

I was told it was a good idea if you can do it but it's not 100% necessary

    2. I heard there is a form to fill out after you get your permit that lets you carry your handgun in 13 other states (these states recognize the NY pistol permit). Is this true?
Some states do honor the NYS permit. There is no additional form. Check out www.handgunlaw.us for more info on reciprocity. As always, verify their info on your own before traveling. You can also apply for non resident permits in other states. PA and NH are easy and cheap. You can get FL but it's expensive. You can also get Utah if you take Dave's class. FL and UT permits are good in something like 30 states. PA and NH are honored in about 10 states, give or take a couple.

    3. Is it true that if you have bad credit, your permit will get denied?
I've never heard of that. No idea if they even check your credit, it doesn't say so in their information packet.

I read that chart wrong, had to edit my post. To apply for non-resident, it is probably a good idea to have my NYS permit first right?

Yeah a lot of non-resident permit states require you have the permit in your home state

Yep, for NH and PA you have to have your home state permit first. Not sure about any others since I don't have any other states.

Most states require you to have your own state's permit before they will issue a non-resident permit. I know that Pa requires you to have no restrictions on your permit in order for them to issue a permit. So make sure you apply for a "full carry concealed permit"

    1. Woah.
    2. I do believe you need a pistol permit in New York before obtaining a carry permit in another state.

I believe you can get the Utah permit before you have a NY permit.

LOL it took me a few minutes to figure out what you were getting at. Didn't expect such an old post to get bumped.

Federal transportation rules apply for getting the gun home.

even if so , it does one no good in NY . having an out of state permit does not allow a NY resident to have a pistol in NY.

Apply for Full Carry in NY , premesis permits are basicly useless. Even if Fed Transportation rules apply , it still has to be locked up seperate from ammo during transport. You cannot Carry outside of the premisis with a Premesis only permit. If your county only issues carry with restrictions , then thats still better than Premesis only. Apply for non-resident full concealed carry for the other states as well.
