kershaw folder in my pocket everyday, always a use for it.
OMG a SAK is always in my pocket
kershaw blackout drop point, resides comfortably in my pocket 24/7. you never know how often a knife truly comes in handy till you start to carry one everyday. if for some reason i forget it at home i feel odd all day especially when i reach into my pocket and say to myself WTF?!?!? oh... thats right i forgot it at home hahaha
I usually carry a smith and wesson special ops 4" serrated folder its not really for self protection but more as a utility I would much rather use my 4oz can of pepper spray in a confrontation then have someones injury or death on my concious
I carry a Uncle Henry. Just a three blade pen knife I don't think a day goes by it doesn't get used.
I carry an assisted opening Smith and Wesson Swat. It is a great knife and always comes in handy, I use it daily for all sorts of randomness.
My hunting kives are an Ontario fixed point 9" and a muela skinning knife.
I carry a Smith and Wesson M&P knife in FDE color. It's nice to carry, not in the way at all, assisted deployment is always a plus too.

I can't imagine going a day without having a knife on my person.
I grab it every time I leave the house, right along with the wallet and keys.

Smith & Wesson "Extreme Ops" Knife.
While my day-to-day activities include very few "Extreme Ops", it's still a very nice knife for it's surprisingly low price point.
Coated Tanto blade.
Has both a straight section and a serrated section.
3.3 inch blade, 4.7 inch handle.
Has a glass-punch window breaker part at the base of the handle... as well as an integrated seatbelt-cutter blade.
4.4 ounces.
20-something bucks on Amazon.
Not a "cheap" knife in any regard.
Well constructed...solid, well balanced.
I love it and recommend it to everyone I can.
A knife would definitely not be my first choice for deployment in a defensive scenario.
But, it's a good tool to have for a wide variety of everyday situations.

Yes. I carry a Gerber Paraframe I and an M&P .40.
They are both tools but they are not interchangeable.
Short list of knife uses that pistol would not be practical for:
opening boxes
stripping wire
scraping stuff off stuff
opening Heineken bottles
cleaning / cutting fingernails
opening that pesky locked shop door
cutting cheese (the eating kind)
peeling oranges
opening mail
skinning squirrels (I probably should wash it before I cut more cheese)
sharpening pencils
stirring coffee (definitely wash it before stirring coffee)
you get the point.

Kershaw Tanto Blur all day every day .
“Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth, because they don't want their illusions destroyed.”

For work i carry a kershaw blur tanto blade. And any other time i have a ZT CB350 with the composite blade![]()
I always have a pocket knife, if I needed to use it in defense of myself or someone else I would, but that isn't why I carry it, it has a window breaker and seat belt cutter on it too, so it's more of a car safety thing, my girlfriend carries the same one, I got them off Bud-K I think it was let me link it:
Spring Assisted Marine Knife YC514MR-MC - Knives
Can't seem to find it on Bud-K again but that's the knife, good quality, was on sale for 30 bucks for a set of 3, came with their own boxes, holds a nice edge, no complaints really. use one for me one for my girl and 1 to keep nice (I collect knives). Note mine says "Special Forces" on the blade, is slightly different in color (Grey with a brown accent at the bottom) and I noticed the one pictured is missing the seat belt cutter and window breaker point, huh. Mine is also rounded not tanto style point.
If anyone wanted to look them up they are spring assisted tactical M9 special issue knives, or at least that's what I googled.
Rifle Wants: Nothing legal in NY
USELESS Unrestricted NYS Pistol Permit
I always carry a small knife. it is the most handy tool one can have. If in the woods even a bigga one.

SOG Trident, all the time. It's the only one I have & the only one I need.

Or a CRKT M16

Camp or hunting pack has a RAT 7 in it.

Evileyes, I had no idea you had such a knife/blade fetish.. How do you like that Hest? I have been looking hard at one of their folders.
Chris,
I like the HEST, but the older fixed blade version (mine) was actually made by ESEE, w/a 1095 Carbon steel blade.
The folders are made by Lion Steel in Italy and have German steel D2 blades.
D2 blades hold an edge better but are a bitch to sharpen, and can be more brittle than 1095.
For a working knife I just prefer 1095, it's easier (for me) to put a wicked edge on.
But I have been eyeballiing a HEST folder, and was wondering if you could use the bottle opener as a "wave" w/it.
If you want to check it out I'll bring it to ORC in Jan. I guess whoever buys the folder first can let the other fondle it.

I used to be big into knives... Sold them all except for my Spyderco manix and caly III
hmmm....I still have my boy scout knife....a swiss....3 remingtons....a couple of old cases...a barlow..a few camillus knives...an m6 and an m7 and a jap samurai sword....I always carry a knife I live out in the sticks... I've been attacked by just about every type of animal there is in onondaga county. my very first job was at the burnett park zoo...I've been working on a book for 30 years
Still don't have the right reason in (Fulton County) NY to carry my Glock Gen 4 .40 with me all the time but, for work I carry my CRKT M16-ZSF. Just put a slight sharpening to it once every couple of weeks unless I am doing a lot of cutting.
I always carry a 3 inch folder that can be opened one handed. I use a knife a lot for opening packages as well as minor repairs(wiring) and if I should need it to protect me for some reason it could be used for that to.
I now carry a trident tanto. I had carried a SOG access card (original) for many years. I unfortunately was put in a situation where I had to defend myself and my only option was my pocket knife. It was in White Plains and the ADA is a raging c*nt. My attacker had me trapped and one arm pinned... I was able to get my knife out of my pocket, flip it open one handed, and slice my attackers arm... at which point he immediately let go and ran away (injury resulted in 39 stitches, 19 internal). I was arrested on the spot and spent 2.5yrs and 28grand defending myself in court before finally being found not guilt by means of self defense (despite it being a clear cut case of self defense and me having no prior criminal record). The only plea the ADA ever offered was 60 days in jail. During the case, my knife was part of evidence. I immediately replaced it with the trident. Especially after the events in White Plains, I didn't plan to be without a knife ever. Once the case was settled I finally got the access card back, complete with my attackers blood still on the blade. It's mounted in a shadow box in my home office as a reminder of that day and the bullsh*t that is our justice system.
