    Default EDC Knife

What is every body using as a EDC knife? I'm looking for a new one, the one I have now I love and have had over a year, but it's super cheap (so cheap i'm not saying what or where i got it) and I'm surprised it has lasted this long. So, whats every one carrying?

Bear is well trained, as best as you can train a bear with wings that breaths fire

I used to carry an HK Ally, but not anymore. Mainly because if an officer can flick a knife open, it becomes a gravity knife.

sog flash II, for quite sometime now. it magically disappeared last christmas at the future in-laws after being passed around to open presents, but i liked it so much a had to go buy another. swore the first once would turn up as soon as i'd bou ht the second since that's how that tends to go, but still haven't found it to this day. perhaps it's such a good knife that it was worth swiping from a non-relative...

I may have to stop in this week.
Lots of good ideas in this thread. Not leaning toward anything yet, I want a assisted ipening with a partially serrated blade. I'm not spending a ton of money on something i will probably loose. Got my oldest son started with my Gerber mini paraframe.

    I carry a CRKT M21-14.

It has a pretty stout blade, I've used it to cut bottles and open gear oil drums, no problem. Despite being aluminum, I used it to pound in a nail once, no problem. The Auto Lawks seems to have failed some time ago, but it's not a big deal, as I had always used liner or frame locks before. Makes a nice nosehair trimmer. Whenever someone needs a knife for something, they generally ask me.

Not an assisted opener, but easy enough to open one handed, useful serrations, and an unfortunate pricetag.

    Ended up getting a Gerber F.A.S.T. 3.0 and a Winchester/Gerber assisted.

Kershaw Ken Onion Black Out, Plain Edge

I have had one of these knives for well over 7 years at least and almost always carry it. It has yet to let me down even once. Keeps a great edge and is fast to open.

Spyderco Pacific Salt, black version. I switch them up every few months or so though and I may be looking at a new one soon enough. I LOVE this Pacific Salt though. Never rusts, I can get that H1 INCREDIBLY sharp with a steel and when it gets too dull for that a touch of ceramic stones from the Sharpmaker brings it right back.

What are the laws about knives? As in, what can you and what can you not have?

You can't have a dirk, dagger, razor blade, stiletto or dangerous knife in NY state. None of those are defined in the penal code so your guess is as good as mine. Generally if you stay away from anything sharpened on both sides and stay away from a switchblade you'll be OK. There is an exemption for switchblades if you have a hunting/fishing license. I would not carry one anyway.

A knife that shoots the blade.
My mind is the weapon, everything else is merely an accessory.
