    Default God Bless PA

Within the past two weeks of my life I have quit one job and started another. The new job was 3 hours from home in PA where the gun laws are better, beer, gas, cigars, and just living is cheaper. PA welcomes heavy industry and isnt afraid to do things to keep it around.

Uprooting my life and moving 3 hours from friends and family was one tough decision but I just had the greatest first week at a job, ever. I found a job that I love where the people are great and the money is out of this world.

    God Bless PA.

Excuse me while I go browse the local gun shops where I can fondle pistols, collapsible the stocks and even seriously think about buying a suppressor. You guys have fun in NY.

You need to wait until you're a resident to get a suppressor

Wow, I have never heard anyone ever say "sucks to be you guys in NY" before. What an original concept. And here I thought we had the nation's best gun laws.

Seriously considering a move to PA myself once the kids are out of school. Very much looking forward to it.

Where abouts in PA did you move to? Where are the good/bad places?

What are you doing in pa? I have a bunch of friends that live down there. One of them just bought and AR, he was pretty surprised to learn he couldn't bring it to NY.

If it never snowed in PA, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Otherwise I'm looking deeper south. Congrats and good luck at the new job!

Thanks. I got a job with GE Transportation making locomotives. I am a Mechanical Platform Engineer so I help design / configure the 75ft long, 100,000lb frame of the locomotive.

GE Trans has tons of openings; look around on the website.

As far as the good / bad areas I am not so sure. I moved to Erie and found an apt complex close to work that had good reviews online. I also did a little bit of looking at the map the shows crimes in the area. Plus Penn State is a mile down the road so there a bunch of college girls around.

As someone who grew up on the border of PA, I can tell you that you're making a good choice. Enjoy those low taxes and great gun laws.

My family has a Cabin in Ulysses, PA...Love that its just you and nature, no one for miles and that you can ride ATVs on the road as long as it has a license. Hope to move an hour or so outside of Pittsburgh in the next few years. Also like that your vote can actually make a difference in PA...

Erie just keeps getting better. Work is awesome and the guys I work with are hysterical.

    I also found heaven tonight.

The Brewery in Erie PA has a special on Thursday nights. You either buy a glass ($5, it comes full) or you bring in a glass from a previous visit and they fill / refill it for $2 all night long. They have >8 beers that they brew on site in there microbrewery. They have some beers that are available all year long but they mostly carry seasonal beers that are delicious.

This place just keeps getting better. I will be sure to update with other wonderful things I find down here; hopefully in a couple weeks I will be able to go to the local in door range and rent a few different handguns to try / finger f***.

    Enjoy NY!

The company I work for has three locations I could transfer to in PA.
Now that I think of it, they have locations all over the country I could transfer to. I could make a lateral move and already know what kind of money I'd be making.
What the hell am I still doing in NY?

If you get paid New York money in GA you'd be doing very well!

I'm not positive, but from talking to guys that have transferred around, we in NY make less than a lot of other locations in the company.

The nice thing is, they'll let you transfer every 6 months, so if someplace sucked, only have to deal with it for a short time.
If not for the wife & kids, I'd be tempted to do just that, just bounce around until I felt "home". It would be too tough on them, though.
    Maybe someday...

It'd be tough to leave 200 +/- acres of private hunting land literally right outside my door though.
