Very cool. I haven't seen it quite that rough on Lake George

, but reminds me of a time about 10 years ago a bunch of friends were out right after the ice went out late March. Probably 35 degree water, but who's counting? Heading north into these long 6' rollers (very unusual for LG). Was getting alot of crap from the "crew", so decided to cut the power on top of one of those rollers. Bow dipped down about 8" below the water line. I was looking at my wife, who was standing next to me, and our friend David and said "duck". We watched about 1000 gallons (guessing) of water come across the bow, hit the windshield, when straight over the canvas (rolled up behind us) and right into three of our friends laps sitting, who were sitting on the bench behind the front seats. God that was funny, to us. They were freezing. We had to pull off on state land and start a fire to get them warm and dry. Took a cut log from the base of a tree stump from that site we stayed on and made it into a table top for my "camp" up there. Good times...

It was very impressive; quite beautiful too. Was that a military boat or fishing boat? Whichever, that's one job I would not wish on anybody...

Not sure, the first one was fishing for sure. the other one don't know. But not the best place to spend a day riding on that is for sure.
That's why I love submarines. When the going gets rough go down and enjoy a smooth sail.

My uncle Norman (dad's brother) was apparently an accomplished career submariner. WWII to Vietnam. Died of a brain tumor when I was a toddler, late 60's. Not that had anything to do with the nuke he was sleeping on...

my dads described these types of scenes but i thought he was getting senile til i saw this....im not sure id cut mustard on that type of ship in those waters

I used to think I wanted to work on a ship for a couple of years. Just for a life experience. My uncle is a medical officer on one. Works 6 weeks on and 6 weeks off. He has been just about everywhere in the world. I was really considering it... Then I was off the coast of Greece on a 100 foot ship in 12 foot swells during a storm. It was hot and smelled like diesel exhaust. (later add puke into the smells). No one was allowed on deck. No fresh air.I have never felt so sick in my life. We were about 6 hours to our destination. It felt like 6 months. It was about the worst thing i have ever been through. I don't want to work on a ship anymore...
