The way he's pasionate about guns it should be a no brainer!Me i would open a fishing shop if i did my passion, just no money in selling worms and minnows any more, plus Walmart/Cabelas.....I really cant believe the gun market for black guns since i just recently got into them, and it seems like a cut-throat business with some to get there share!
Is this "Classic Arms"? Seems to be about the right spot on the map. I found the shop a little underwhelming. Not a lot on the shelves and his prices were high, especially on milsurp stuff.
I really like this place. I've yet to buy anything there, but I stop in every time I drive through Oneonta, just in case a Mauser came in. Staff is helpful, friendly and the prices are very fair.

Chuck is a good guy, decent inventory and very helpful.
Cortland County. Parks rd guns outside of Cortland. By the landfill. Not a big shop, but Harold is honest, and has good prices, and a machinist next door to handle the "heavier" smithing. Excellent shop for both buying and selling. For you locals, he's the guy that used to be in Natoli's meat market. Great guy, knows his stuff.
T&T Gunnery Merrick Rd Seaford NY. Large inventory of Military and Sporting rifles. Plenty of AR parts, Marty is the most knowledgeable gunstore owner I've met . Fur Fin and Feather Livingston Manor NY. Good selection of Hunting and Fishing equipment with a nice selection of new and used guns, Husband and wife are very nice.
Small shop a little off beaten path, Barryville Sportsman in Barryville NY. Nice guy, pretty knowledgeale, and willing to negotiate. No handguns yet, but told they are coming soon. Nice selection of new and used rifles and shotties, reasonably priced.
I wish we had a map with pin points on where all the gun shops are. You can use the FFL finder but that only tells you people with an FFL and not if they have a business in dealing or not.

Harry is quite a bit off the beaten path, and has a small shop, but he has some nice new and used handguns, and lots of long guns. I always enjoy poking around his shop and chatting with him. A bit of a drive for me, but a nice diversion when life gets too busy. And he's sold me five handguns too!

Family friend, great guy to work with. He is a Glock fanatic. Can also get Ruger, Remington, Beretta. Not sure which others. He is small so also quite reasonably priced. Owner is getting into more of this being his sole source of income but right now hours are limited. 3-6pm M-F.

I have yet to be in a gun shop where I wasn't treated like crap. Buffalo Gun Center is the worst. Anytime i go in there they act like i owe them something and like i should profusely thank them for even allowing me in their store. Get bent. Same clowns have been there since i was 10 years old doing the same thing and yet the place is always packed. Its to the point where i mainly deal online and have my stuff sent to Don Cariglow at Craiglow's gun shop in West Seneca. He rules, awesome guy to deal with, does it out of his house as a hobby. Maybe i will have to go on a field trip and visit some of these shops.

Nice people to deal with but prices are high. They do have specials and those can be good. I did buy my Ruger Takedown from them. I stop in there often to see what he has used. Always willing to help you out. A customer from the city was in there and did not speak English very well and he was very patient with him. The customer was being a jerk and I was getting annoyed but he kept his cool.

Marcy, NY - Frank's Guns. Surprised no one has mentioned Frank. He can come off as a bit standoffish at first but his prices and inventory are hard to beat anywhere. Jeff and I have bought several guns from him, my laser grips came through him cheaper than I could find online, and I can buy reloading supplies there as well.

Just south of Syracuse in Tully is AKS firearms. Check out their website, they have one of the biggest selections and great prices too.
that guy is a complete crook.
I bought two cases of ammo off him like 3-4 years ago. Was 15min before "closing time". he hustled me, I handed the cash for the two cases , expecting CASE pricing as listed on the sides of the CASES. He then handed back only a few bucks , not all of what was coming back to me.
I asked where the rest of my change was....he said the one wasnt a case because the plastic seal was broken. He said to leave because he was closing up for the day and I had to go. He basically stole $50-60 and refused to refund me or reimburse the money that was owed to me.
myself, i refuse to give that guy more business. he has some neat guns from time to time, but i dont support crooked crooked business practices.
TOM"S in Sodus is the one I ended up buying my gun for my permit app and he is the one I will do all my business with. T & C was alright, they were not real bad about the up sale like Pro and Custom Gun Shops were. I was looking for something just to get on my permit app and would get a good pistol when I could afford it and after I could see how it felt and maybe even find a place where i could shoot different types, so I got real turned off with the high pressure ..."Glock or Kimber only " sales pitch from the staff of Custom and Pro....oh and Dicks ,,,well the name says it all!!
