    Default Ballistic info. collection?

Question...When I pick-up the (used) revolver I put money on (Colt MK V .357 Mag. Trooper) and I bring it in for inspection, How does it work with the ballistic info they collect? As I said, "it's a used revolver" I heard when you buy a new handgun the manufacturer supplies that info. In a sealed container. What happens in the case of a used handgun? Is it the responsibility of the dealer, is it my responsibility or do they fire the handgun when I bring it in? Any info would be useful.
    Thanks,

As far as I'm aware, used handguns are exempt from the ballistic database that NY wastes so much money on. I've purchased many used firearms both locally and off Gunbroker and once the serial # was on my permit I could pick it up.
