Default Is it legal to havre 10 round 45ACP magazines

I am looking to purchase a single stack 1911 45ACP 10 round magazine. I have only seen them in 7 and 8 round so I am wondering if there is a problem in New York for having them. I do not need them foe any reason. My 45 is made for shooting 5 shots at a time for bulls eye shooting. But is would be fun to load to ten round magazines and just throw 400 grains of lead down the range as fast as I can pull the trigger. I am a calm person but that would be fun once in a while. I have seen them for sale but want to check the law first.
    Thanks

its because .45 rounds are big and 1911 grips are little.

Right, no problem with 10, and you can load even more than that with legal preban magazines. I hate to think what that kind of excitement might do to a normally calm guy like yourself.

Yes I am aware of the size and I have seen them I was wondering if they were legal? If they are I want to get them.
I realize they will stick out the bottom of the grips by to rounds.

Yup, most pistols that normally come with magazines that hold more than 10 rounds(standard capacity, anywhere from 12rnds up to 30+ in some cases) come to NY with mags capped at 10 +1 in the chamber, so a 10rnd mag is perfectly legal.

Completely legal, yes. I use these Wilson Combat 10 rounders

Wilson Combat Magazine with Base Pad 1911 Government, Commander 45 ACP 10-Round Stainless Steel - MidwayUSA

And midway even has them on sale right now.

I have found them to be slightly less reliable than the 8rd Wilson 47Ds I use for carry. Normally they are fine, but the few hiccups I've had here and there were always with the 10 rounders.

Your profile says that you are from Rochester, I don't think that Rochester allows pre bans.
Any effort to rationalize the use of this revolver in a serious combative scenario is evidence of intellectual bankruptcy.

For pistols Rochester city law says no mags that hold more than 17 rounds so a 10 round mag is good to go.

    Rifles is another story.

ANY magazine made prior to 1994, regardless of capacity, is still legal in NY state.

Your 10 round .45 mags are legal, no matter the date of manufacture

When you say 1994 is that just for pistols or anything, ie, SKS

Rochester, Buffalo and NYC say pistol mags that hold more than 17 rounds are a no-go so your 15 round preban is fine.

If you had a preban mag that holds more than 17 it would be legal in the rest of the state but not buffalo, rochester or NYC.

I don't get it. Anyone can get a CCW in Rochester, but you can't have hicap mags? Here in Onondaga, you can have high cap mags, but not a CCW.

Temporaryscars, Join the group. I don't think they want us to get it. Being a LE, in Ct. was bad enough, I hate to be one here.

Trying to understand all of this will make your head explode. If anyone feels that strongly about the fact that you don't like it, do what some of the rest of us have done and contact your representatives.

It may seem bad here in NY, but it's still not as bad as some other states or countries. Don't get all crazy until you realize how good you might actually have it here. Live in Canada or some European country and then let us know what you think./....

Whenever I feel bad about our situation, I just go over to Calguns and read some of the posts, then I don't feel as bad anymore.

Good thing you're so calm. They're illegal for people who aren't calm.

Mass delegates firearms licensing to local authorities. Many parts of Mass are de-facto shall issue, even for carrying concealed.

On the Mass topic, you can get a non-resident permit, but it's a little pricey.
