    Default Hey from Brooklyn

    Hey

Just wanted to say hi. Only had my NYC license for a few months and love it. I've got a S&W M&P 9mm.

Hey, I am also in Brooklyn. How long did it take you to get it and did you have to jump over any hurtles?

It took me about 3 months(submitted early Feb and got it early May) and I just had to do the usual stuff like notarized letters and tax forms(self employed) and more notarized letters and more affidavits...

I shoot at Westside now. you have your permit?

I thought it was near impossible to get a permit in NYC. It takes 18 months in Erie county.

They've sped the process up. Beware, the NYPD are about to enact new amendments to the Admin Code for NYC that will make it tougher(easier to get denied) to get a permit.

I have a few friends that have gotten their permits in about the same time frame.

Hand in application. Get interview letter 7-10 days later. set up interview. bring more "stuff" to interview. After that the wait is anywhere from 30-60days for your Approval/denial letter.

I bet NYC is keeping it cycle time low as to not have it be grounds for a law suit. Certain counties in NY can sue under depraved indifference(i think thats what its called) bc they are treated so differently then other counties.

Welcome. Glad some of you NYC guys are getting permits. We always hear bad stories from down there about denials.

Welcome to the forum. My first handgun was a S&W M&P 9, ergonomic and very accurate. Too bad I sold it.
