Pepper Spray...on my belt...where legal...and I have a pistol permit, but apparently we live under the auspices of some communist regime...when did that happen and where was I?

Outside of NY...in the Land of the Free/Home of the Brave I somehow manage to shove a P2000 down my pants with a nifty holster that I'm pretty sure makes me look like I have a tail...

OK Guys,  let  us remember that these forums are read by some questionable characters, and you
are advertising who you are,,,,,,,  what you carry,,,,,, and where you carry it.

Another forum was showing collection of guns...

Why advertise,,,,,  remember,  if a bad guys really wants what you have,  you will never see it coming..   Huh

Just a thought.

I agree with Ron. Stop advertising what, when, how you carry. Concealed carry is YOUR SECRET, not something to be tossed about on the 'net...sheesh guys.....

If the criminales started to figure out where you carry and all the other details, your advantage of surprise is shot. If you want to find out those details, go to matches or come to training classes to learn this stuff.

In New York...its a reasonable assumption that most people are unarmed...I don't think the criminals could be made any less affraid by people telling them what and where, also, most criminals are stupid, they are going to have trouble tracking down most user names...even the govt. can't do that very well.

You can think that. I have done extensive research into criminal mindset and they do respect and fear the victim that could defend themselves. Besides, criminals are not stupid. They are very, very good at their jobs -victimizing you.

Never, ever underestimate your enemy, they will prove you incorrect every time.

Thinking that criminals are dumb, or don't know whether or not you are armed is what makes a good victim. Most assaults happen seconds after the criminal has sized you up and has decided that you are a soft target and will not fight back. Just the mere chance that you may, indeed fight, will most likely significantly reduce the chances of your being victimized.

I have an AOL homepage? Sweet I'll have to check that out.  Yeah that is my technical address but I'm not really there that often. (not my e-mail address).
The point was, that because of the laws it is reasonable to assume that almost everyone in NY is unarmed.

More people carry than you would think,,  It's like the people who go out, buy a new plasma TV or computer, take it home, unbox it, and throw the box in the garbage (Actually, they use the box as a garbage can).  Kids drive around looking for that.  It is telling  everyone that  there is a brand new (whatever) here, come and get it.  With the average alarm response time well over 8 minutes,,  bad guys know there chance on getting caught is nill, but the reward is great,,,  all because someone threw out a box.  Maybe not today, or tomorrow,,,,  but  why take the chance when things can be avoided.

be safe,,

That's another point I make. Watch what you toss out to the curb. New high end electronics, toys, etc are all 'flags' to the badguys....You'd be surprised at what someone can find out about you from your trash......SS#'s, CC accounts, you name it.....

Watch what you say to strangers....
Watch what you wear in public to avoid people knowing you are a gun guy....

Remember, you have a secret...keep it that way.

I got my passport two weeks ago, need to get a new rifle, then my pistol permit is next on the list. It's getting closer to the top!

Not to go off topic but anything like that REALLY needs to be shredded.  Those pre-approved credit card offers are the biggest liability ever.  There was a post on the web about a guy that took one that said to tear it up if you don't want it (printed right on it) and tore it up then taped it back together and sent it in.  He got a card in the mail and was able to use it.  The offer was intended for him in the first place but it proved a pretty good point about not just tearing that stuff in half.  This guy tore the 8 1/2x11 paper into maybe 8 pieces if I remember right and they still processed it.

You should get a shredder and shred anything that has your name, address, phone number, SS#, or anything combined or separate. I can tell you that most ID theft happens from your trash. In one investigator/PI school, we learned how to pick apart a few trash bags from a house and then figure out everything we could from that. Someone who wished you harm would be able to access accounts and open credit cards and more.
