Default Russian Pistols

Just curious if anyone likes the Russian pistols that use the 7.62x25 rounds. I've been looking at them as future possibilites for when I get my permit since the rounds are so cheap.

Also was looking at the Makarov that uses the 9x18 round for the same reason.

Any thoughts on these?

I owned a russian mak a few years ago. It was a super reliable, accurate pistol, but pretty heavy for its size IMOO. Aimsurplus and JG sales both have real maks for ~$270.

As far as Tok's they are GREAT guns. I have a Polish Wz-48. It is like shooting a laser out to 40 yards. Yugo toks seem to be the rage as of late, but Polish, Chinese, or Romanian are all solid choices. Plus, you can still find quality surplus ammo for less than $.10/round.

The Tokarov is a real nice gun (?) for the money. Sure, it looks like a die cast piece if shite, but, it isn't, and underneath, it's been around for quite a few years with no hiccups. It was the Russian military counterpart to the 1911.

And, the 7.62X25 caliber is no slouch either. Thicker, and longer than a 9MM, and then necked down to 7.62MM the round packs quite a punch. 1,000 rounds in a spam-pack for under $125.00 make this caliber an economical shooter as well.

The Tokarov's were made by the Russians, Romanians, Chinese, Czechs, and Yugos too. But, the better guns seem to be Romanian.

The Tok is definitely on my short list.

For my money, the best pistol in 9x18 Makarov caliber is the CZ-82.
