Like the title says got my pistol permit and am going shopping thinking of buying a Smith & Wesson SW9VE 9mm. Any input would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend the Sigma line of pistols. Go with a M&P if you want a S&W.. They are pretty solid.
I'll add the same. SIgma= Smegma
Look for something else for your money. XD, M&P, Glock, SIG, EAA/Tanfoglio, Colt 1911, Kimber.......
S&W still (except the M&P) has not made a great Semi...they make a hell of a revolver though

Yeah, there are plenty of better handgun designs out there available for a fair price like Dave has said..
I will agree too. The M&P is fairly nice gun, I had one for a little while. It had a very crisp trigger and nice reset. The only reason I got rid of it was I was looking at stepping up to something else and couldn't afford both.
Love my walter p99. Buy what you like and feels good. Buy quality. A few bucks saved isn't worth regrets
Another vote for the M&P line. I bought a used Sigma and I took it to the range about 3 times, that was 2 too many.
