    Default New revolver-NEF R22

Just picked up this stainless NEF R22 Ultra Mini in 22mag for a good price. The cool factor was off the charts for me and it will compliment my stainless Savage 93BTVS in 22mag nicely. Anyone have personal experience with these? Any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks

It's definitely not new. But, it looks like this one has never been shot or handled much at all. I've been researching all day and honestly can't find anything about this particular model. I can find blued versions with 6" barrels but absolutely no stainless ones, let alone ones with 2.5" barrels. I hope someone has some info on these....I'm dying to know.

Are you sure it is stainless steel. As I recall NEF only made revolvers in blue and brushed or satin nickel.

No matter what it is tho that is a nice looking revolver.

I have an H&R 922 which is identical to this other then mine has the same heavy barrel and rib that is six inches, it's blued and has adjustable rear sight, the 922 is a Target version. The original owner bought it new in the 70's for a home gun, fired nine rounds to get a feel for it, cleaned it and put it back in the original box and packed it away never to fire it again. Story is he wanted a gun to take with him when he traveled to Florida each year, when he found out he couldn't legally do that he just packed it away and never used it again.

He passed away a couple years ago and his wife turned it over to the Sheriff's. I know the guys son, we were talking one day and he told me his Dad passed away and his Mom had this gun that she would like to sell, Jon knows I'm a pistol shooter. I paid them $125.00 which was a fair price, it's no S&W. Good thing I bought it when I did, when I picked it up from the Sheriff's, the officer told me another 25 days and it was going to be chopped!

I fired nine rounds through it, cleaned it and it's now a safe queen. Nothing valuable but it's neat and I'll keep it as new, I have lots of other guns to shoot. I told Jon if he or anyone else in the family ever got a permit, I would sell it back to them for what I paid. Jon laughed and said, "No chance in that happening, my family just isn't into guns." I told him the offer will remain anyways.

Here's a couple pics of mine. I was lucky enough to stumble across a pair of original H&R Target Grips & added them as shown here.

NEF I think bought the rights to the entire H&R catalog, and are still making these back home in Gardner, Ma. . Neat configuration, would be a heck of a nice little kit gun for knocking around or running a trap line. That 922 is really a very accurate little target revolver, I used to shoot with a guy that used one, had the trigger sweetened up a bit and he shot right with the K-22 and High Standard autoloader guys, he always said he won enough from the pricey-gun guys that he was shooting a free pistol.
