The post topic pretty much says it all. So far everyone has been very helpful but if there is an FAQ or other posts out there I would like to know about it. Getting used to the tighter laws and the county-by-county regulation is new to me. Where I come from gun legislation is state-wide and you can enter a bank with a chambled pistol, concealed or not with an unregistered weapon!! Needless to say, bank robberies are somewhat rare per capita. Better yet, have a reference post as a sticky in the newbie forum. That would be awesome.

What specifically are you looking for info on? I would suggest moving to the Law and Politics section and asking there. Lot's of helpful people here.

I guess the title didn't say it all... Yep - I was looking for something like a beginners guide to owning guns in NY. I will check out the above link.

Well the most obvious laws concern what your rifles, handguns and shotguns can or can't have which is a sticky in the Laws section. Just remember if anything is pre ban then the current restrictions don't apply to the firearm or accessory.
