Default Something different, a preban Mac-10, open bolt.

Picked up a Mac-10 at auction (Collar City).

Not normally a Mac fan but, I saw this priced right, and I had had a feeling it may be a preban being they designated it as a "M-10" not a M-11 which would typically indicate post ban mfg.

New mfg Macs are like $300-400. Prebans bring $500-700. Open Bolt prebans are $1100-1300.

    Details of gun:

9mm, preban, open bolt operation (1981-1982 mfg). No magazine came with it, so ill need to hunt for a few but..

    Here it is.

Neato. That's not FA is it?

When I picked up a good number of Vietnam error perfect condition grease gun magazines (30 round of 45 ACP), I was surprised to find out that they also fit in Mac-10's. I don't have a Mac-10 to try it in though. Let me know if you want to part with your new toy at some point.

That company is but I don't think he personally is, maybe I'm wrong. That company only deals in full auto stuff outside of this state to my understanding.

It is a semi auto. Plus it's a personal gun not a company one.
Gotta get an amendment for it. So dumb. The system takes forever as we see with JVGs recent experience

If I give it up to be a company gun and register it as an SBR, sure.

Id rather keep it a pistol where I can keep it forever without any FFL or need to move out of NY. Not worth it.
Itll get more use as a pistol to me, will be easily accessible and be far more desirable and marketable if I decide to ever sell it.
As it sits , residents in basically all 50 can own it almost. If it was a SBR it's a darn limited market.

(Possibly Stupid) question: Is that easy to shoot somewhat accurately or is it spray and prey? I ask because it seems like the bolt slamming forward BEFORE each shot on a semi would mess thing up. On an auto it would be less noticeable and the accuracy is poor anyway, but the semi has me intrigued.

in full auto if anything like other pistol open bolts they actualy stay on target better due to the 2 motion (bolt and recoil) counteracting one another

with semi you will notice you will be firing lower the faster you pull the trigger

all in all when working with pistols like these accuracy aint the point

Ive fired full auto original German MP-40s which are open bolt...they take some getting used to being the bolt slams forward every shot before the round leaves the barrel (obviously). I felt like the gun wasn't working right as its an odd odd operation when your used to just closed bolt operation guns.

    Now as for Macs...
The advantage of the open bolt models is there is no nasty trigger slap as it exists only on the re-engineered closed bolt semis.

Finally... Google search and compare the size of open bolt macs to closed bolt new production ones, it's significant

I know it is an old thread sorry. I have a friend out of state with a mac 10 .45 semi. Can I own it in NY. Can it be registered on my CCW permit? Does it fall under SAFE ban on semi since it is not a rifle.
