Many homeowners and renters insurance may not cover firearms or on a limited basis only. For example, I know Travelers renters insurance will only pay $1,000 or something like that "per occurrence" (NOT per gun) which you all know isn't that much if you own more than one gun or even one AR-15 in some cases. I also know Travelers allows you to buy extra riders for full coverage which can easily double your renters insurance for an average apartment worth of coverage.
I heard that the NRA offers some kind of insurance. Anyone know anything about the cost or any details like do you have to register your guns with them by serial number or even make/model? Interested in info on insurance that would cover theft or fire and whatever else homeowners type insurance usually covers.
