I finally have enough $$ saved up to start ordering some parts for my build. I deposited a chunk of money on the way home then sat down at my computer to get things started.

I did have one question for Midway before I placed my order; whether I would be charged at the time of the order or the time of the shipment of back ordered parts. Sadly, I got the answer that I'd be charged at the time of shipment, which is a huge inconvenience for me. I am in the process of dumping HSBC, which is where I have my debit card through, so I can't order anything that's back ordered because my card won't be good in about a month.

I got looking around at the other parts I want to get, and I'd say about 95% of my list is back ordered or not available, and the upper receiver that I wanted to get is completely gone.

Holy smokes this is going to take FOREVER to build my AR simply because I can't get the parts! I thought the limiting factor was going to be the time it'd take to save up the money for the bits, but in reality, it's just waiting for the blasted parts to become available.

Thanks for letting me vent. I'm so frustrated right now!

All the major AR companies are backed up on parts and lower recievers right now.....Uppers seem to be a bit more abundant,the same with ammo......it's because of the election year,if we get stuck with another 4 years of you know who we might be in trouble,if that clown had his way none of us would have weapons...! Having said that,check out a place called J&G Sales (JGsales.com)they are an outfit out of Prescott,AZ......They have a TON of parts,and might be a great source for you to get what you need,also here is another good piece of advice,if you don't have a Ebay account,set one up it's easy and free ! No,I don't work for them LOL I told you because there is a huge amount of AR parts on there as well.....A bunch of the sellers offer free shipping as well,I have bought a huge amount of parts and add on's on Ebay over the last year,not one problem and your money is protected through PayPal......Let me know how you nmake out if ya want to,hang in there bud I am sure you will get that EBR done soon...!

I've been burned on ebay enough that I don't even bother with it anymore. I'll take a look, but it's hard for me to buy anything.

sign up for ar15.com if you haven't already. go to the EE trader section and buy away, most parts are very reasonable on there. and you can build an ar15 100x with the amount of parts that are for sale there.

I actually am a member there. I got started there with my build and getting ideas, but ended up over here for the NY specific stuff and decided to stay.

I appreciate that. I'll take a look though. I'm just gun shy (no pun intended) about using it. Even paypal isn't high on my list. My wife's account got hacked a few years back, and ever since I just try to avoid it.

I've got a Spikes lower, so I'd like a spikes upper to go with it. Spikes doesn't have anything listed on their web site right now, which is disappointing.

He offered to exchange RRA if I got antsy. Charged my debit Sunday night and I had two emails telling me it shipped on Monday.

I don't know if you have a specific co. you're holding out for, but I used a Stag upper for my AR15.

Their website currently doesn't say anything about being out of stock or backordered, unless they just don't update that sort of thing. Maybe give them a call to make sure, but I can say it's been a very nice upper.

Also, if you've got the money now, look at optics as well. I just went and ordered a red dot scope, and it's backordered until the end of June. Just something to think about.

I can't order anything that's on back order because my debit card won't be any good within the next month or so.

Take current debit card or cash and buy a pre~paid debit/credit card.
Usually the first 'fill up' is cheap to free (re filling is where they make thier $$) so you wojn't be taking a bite.

You can use it just like a CC to order stuff, the $ will already be there and totally accessable for use over however long or short a timeleine you decide by using up the card, and should you cancel an order or whatever the $ is still just as accessable and useable for anything from bread to bullets at local stores or online establishments.

Bonus: if ever lost or stolen you'll only be out what was on the card, not your entire bank account or CC credit limit.
No cancelling stuff and renewing whatever.
