Default Keeper of ammunition form legal question.

What exactly is the NYS DOS ID number they ask for on the form?

Do you need to form a corporation in NY to be issued one of these?

People that post answers that don't know what they are talking about will be mocked. Since this is the Internet there is no way to stop you so please show some restraint.

From the little googling I did it appears that you need to be incorporated to get one. I think its used for tax purposes in NYS so maybe contact NYS TAX department? Department of Taxation and Finance

Or better yet use contact info in this FAQ http://www.dos.ny.gov/corps/bus_llc_...ts.asp#contact

That's all i could find that talks about this ID number.

I have a federal tax payer ID number for our hunting club.
We are not incorporated but it was issued by the IRS for banking purposes.

Since the state policy were kind enough to use a hunting club as an organization that should be able to buy ammo without the background BS I feel obligated to extend this service to all of my member.

If someone on here does not know then I would suggest that second link for contact and or also possibly the safe act hotline to determine if that number is really necessay and if your club tax id number would suffice

The day after the forms appear on the website the Sgt wrote me back.

Ammo sales info is now available on the Safe Act Website.

Pretty damn good customer service or I am on the watch list.
Since I am already on the radar I thought I would ask him about the ID

Thank you for the follow up email.
I have a specific question regarding the keeper of ammunition form. If you are unable to answer could you possibly direct me to someone who would know the answer?

The keeper of ammunition form asks for a DOS ID Number. My hunting club is not incorporated in NY even though our lease and club house are located here.
Would my federal tax payer ID number work instead?
    12 minutes later

You can submit the form with your Federal Tax ID and your NYS Tax ID (If you have one). Thanks

    So.........

Do I register as a keeper and see what happens?
