Default 5.56 mm ammunition for long range ?

Hey, I just got my M4 and I'm curious as to what grain of ammo I would need to shoot for a longer range. Upwards to 500meters maybe, if that is possible. Thanks

If your M4 has a 1:7 twist barrel, I’d suggest the Black Hills produced version of the Mk 262 round (either Mod 0/without cannelure or Mod 1/with cannelure ). This round contains a 77 grain Sierra Match King (SMK) bullet. I started with the Mk 262 round and then built a rifle to fire it. In the 5.56mm this is the best you’re going to get.

Should be possible... make sure you get a bipod and use higher grain ammo ;D I switched recetly from 55gr to 65gr and have seen a little improvement, but i'm shooting a lot less then 500 meters
