Default New spotting scope- Celestron or Nikon?

I'm looking to get my first spotting scope, kind of looking at the Celestron Ultima 80 20 to 60x80 Straight Spotting Scope:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

or the Nikon XL II Spotting Scope 16-48x60:

Can anyone affer some advice? Is there another you'd suggest?

Also, any thoughts about a straight vs. angled eyepiece?

Thanks

I wish my ncstar spotting scope hand an angled eyepiece, but it works great for up to 50 yards at the range and it was cheap. I think it's 15-40x50. I use mine with a camera tripod so you might want to think about getting one of those too.

Take a look at Kowa scopes. If you go to an event like Camp Perry, you'll see hundreds of them there. There's a reason for that.

I'm looking at getting one too, but there's no way I'm paying more than $300 for one.

60x60... the first number means 60x or 60 power magnification, the second number means 60mm objective lens.

18-90x88mm means 18 to 90 power variable magnification and an 88mm objective lens.

FOV at 100 yards means the field of view, or width of the sight picture you see at 100 yards. So a 15 foot FOV at 100 yards means if you looked through it at a 15 foot wide garage door from 100 yards away the door would fill up the image from edge to edge as you look at it.

Just because they give you a FOV at 1000 yards doesn't make it better. A 10 foot FOV at 100 yards is exactly the same as a 100 foot FOV at 1000 yards.
