My pistol permit app. was rejected after 5 months into the process because I moved from Ontario to Livingston county. I planned to kick out serious pistol reloads with this but w/o a pistol I just don't have use for such a monster of a machine.

Ouch! They rejected just because of the move? Had I not just picked up the 650 I would take it!

They didn't even reject me, they just refuse to complete the investigation. So technically I haven't been approved or denied. I move 10 minutes over the county border and now I don't have the right to own a pistol. Well Jan. 2012 is the soonest I can expect to own a handgun now.

Livingston Co is a better all around permit experience. Takes just as long but you get a plastic card permit, you can buy green stubs in advance and they are good for three years.

Right now I'm waiting on hearing back from Sheriff York to see if he's willing to transfer my application from Ontario county to Livingston. I doubt he will but that is what Ontario county recommended I do.

Livingston Country is actually pretty quick from what I hear. Someone posted here on NYFirearms it took about 40 days to get his permit. Livingston Co. switched to Live Scan which speeds up the process quite a bit. Best of luck getting your application transfered, I hope it all works out for you.
