I recently attended the Northeast Shooter’s Summit in Pelham, NH. This is an event featuring several instructors teaching various training blocks. Here’s a wrap up of Day 1. The first event for my relay was presented by Southnarc of ShivWorks. The block was entitled “Confined Space Shooting” and covered the physical mechanics required to defend [...]
AR15/M4/M16 Generalized Maintenance, Cleaning and Lubrication
I have noticed several questions on the forum recently focused on lubrication and maintenance of the carbine. So, I thought I’d post some generalized guidelines for maintenance, cleaning and lubrication. If followed, these guidelines will keep your carbine functioning optimally with minimum time expenditure. The AR15/M4/M16 family of firearms has gotten a poor reputation due to the [...]

Are your firearms covered in the event of a fire, theft or other loss? The value of just a few firearms can add up fast. Many homeowners or renters insurance policies may not cover firearms or may limit the coverage to an amount below the value of your prized guns. You should read your policy [...]

Senator Gillibrand again votes ‘no’ to legal firearms
The senate passed the Wicker Amendment to the federal budget which ensures that law abiding Amtrak passengers are allowed to securely transport firearms in their checked baggage. The way the amendment works is by forcing Amtrak to allow firearms in checked bagage if they use federal funding. Although the bill was passed by a vote [...]

Utica mayor, David R. Roefaro, to get tough on guns
In his state of the city address, David R. Roefaro, the mayor of Utica, NY declared war on illegal guns. Although the intent is noble, the method will likely trample the right of law abiding gun owners. Some quotes to note from his address include saying that guns are a “gateway to drugs and a [...]

NYS Gun Laws
Check out a new page we just finished, entitled NYS Gun Laws. It has a reproduction of the NYS Gun Laws that the NRA has compiled. We feel it is always important to know what laws are in place so you do not inadvertently break the law and face serious penalties.
More pages coming soon!
We are working on putting together some more content for the main site. Some of the pages we’re working on a shooting range directory as well as a firearms business directory. Keep checking back as we add more content. We will also be doing reviews on various guns, accessories, parts, etc!

We’ve just put up a new page with some very important gun safety rules. It describes many of the common rules seen on NRA documents, and other organization’s gun safety rules. Take a look at the page and read over the rules. There could be some rules that you have not read in the past. Let [...]
Welcome to NY Firearms!
Welcome to NY Firearms! This site has been created in response to a lack of a good discussion forum and site dedicated to firearms in New York State. With seemingly stricter and stricter gun laws in the state, we need to strengthen our community and get together to ensure our 2nd amendment rights are protected. [...]
