Senator Gillibrand again votes ‘no’ to legal firearms

The senate passed the Wicker Amendment to the federal budget which ensures that law abiding Amtrak passengers are allowed to securely transport firearms in their checked baggage.  The way the amendment works is by forcing Amtrak to allow firearms in checked bagage if they use federal funding.  Although the bill was passed by a vote of 63-35, the voting record shows that Senator Gillibrand and Senator Schumer both voted ‘no’.  Schumer’s vote was no surprise but there was hope that Gillibrand would continue to support the rights of law abiding gun owners as she did in the house.  After voting against allowing the residents of Washington DC to own common defensive handguns I guess it was safe to say that her vote of ‘no’ was expected.  Based on her voting record since taking office in the Senate it’s safe to say that Gillibrand is no longer a supporter of second amendment rights.

Thanks and congratulations to our new Senator for listening to and understanding the strong views of many of her new New Yorker constituents about the need to restrict firearms and the violence they often promote. While Gillibrand has obviously never favored gun violence, it is important that she is now taking positions which try to reduce gun violence in every way possible. Go Kirsten!!!

So voting “yes” on ALL gun-related measures means she supports second-amendment rights, but voting “no” means she does not? That’s rather absolutist and simplistic. The truth is, her favorable rating with the NRA was based on only 3 votes over the course of a single congressional term. Her position on guns has always been based on protecting the rights of sports hunters while keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals.

So allowing people to transport legally owned firearms in checked baggage promotes gun violence. Interesting reasoning.

Sure, why don’t we ban knives, axes and chainsaws too since many crimes were committed with these instruments as well!

But that would be too much of an inconvenience to the gun-control advocates.

Are people that much detached from reality and our constitution?

I wrote an email to her office after the last vote, didn’t receive a reply. Maybe I’ll write another one, if I get no reply I’m just going to send a simple third email with “You will not receive my vote in the future for failure to respond.”

Let’s take the guns away from the police seems to be her attitude. Check into what is now happening in jolly old England. Everyone had to turn in their guns and crime has gone up more than you could imagine. Let’s fight our next war with sticks and stones and put her on the front line.

There are already too many laws on the books that infringe our right to keep and bear arms. They are an affront to our right to protect our families and go hunting with a firearm. I feel less safe when it becomes more difficult to lawfully own a firearm. The reason why is that I know the scumbag criminals still have them and are emboldened by more gun control.Any additional law restricting lawfully owned firearms is ridiculous. Please wake up as your right to free speech or assembly and on and on will soon follow.

Senator Gillibrand comes from a family that is full of avid hunters and gun owners. Her brother is a police officer. She is conforming to the pressure of public office and changing her veiws for political reasons. Very sad to see this happening on her behalf!

Those of us who swore an oath to support and defend the constitution are starting to realize exactly what it means. FYI, all anti-second amendment politicians FYI your the domestic enemy the oath speaks about and are being watched for illegal activity.

Attention anti gun people, two questions based on some of the comments above:

How does transporting legally owned firearms on Amtrak (just like one can do on commerical airlines) promote “gun violence”?

Do you really believe the Second Amendment is limited to “hunting”?
