NYS DEC proposes higher sporting license fees.
As part of the state’s budget the legislature will decide whether or not hunting, fishing and trapping license fees will be increased. The proposal hikes fishing licenses from $19 to $29. The proposal comes from the DEC and all money collected stays with the conservation fund which stocks fish, surveys land and raises pheasants.

Revised assault weapon ban introduced

House democrats write letter to Attorney General Eric Holder

House democrats sent a letter to Eric Holder opposing the rumored revival of the expired federal assault weapon ban. Downrange.tv has a copy of the letter on their website. Albany County attacks ammunition sales
On 3/9/2009 democrats in the Albany County legislature introduced a proposal to regulate ammunition sales in Albany County. Under THIS LAW buyers would be required to produce identification, make model and serial of the firearm that it is for and its intended purpose. Ammunition registration has been proven ineffective in preventing crime in the past. [...]

New York City’s suit against gun manufacturers ends
After nine years the United States supreme court refused to consider the case after a lower court struck down the suit in 2005. The decision in 2005 was based on the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act which bans most suits against the firearms industry unless the manufacturer knowingly violates state or federal laws. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) votes ‘no’ to second amendment rights
On February 26, 2009 the United States Senate voted on a bill that would restore the second amendment rights of the citizens of Washington DC. Although the bill passed, Kirsten Gillibrand, supposed pro-gun representative, voted no. Charles Schumer (D-NY) also voted no but that is no surprise.
