Kirsten Gillibrand replaces Hillary Clinton

It’s official.  Kirsten Gillibrand is Governor Paterson’s pick to replace Hillary Clinton as New York’s senator in Washington DC.  Gillibrand is a moderate Democrat and endorsed by the NRA.  Having her represent us is a step forward for our second amendment rights.

Here is the text related to the second amendment as posted on her campaign website when she was running for the 20th congressional district election.

“Congresswoman Gillibrand grew up in a family of hunters and strongly supports the rights of all hunters and gun owners.  She has been an ardent opponent of legislation that will curb the Second Amendment for responsible gun owners and currently has a 100% voting record with the National Rifle Association (NRA).  As a Member of the Agriculture Committee, she sponsored an amendment to the Farm Bill that will expand public lands dedicated for conservation and hunting.”

She came in pro-firearms and she needs to be steadfast in that position regardless of political pressure she may encounter. I wish her well.
If not, she will be labeled as another other wavering politician, that bases his/her views on which way the wind is blowing. This will result in a tremendous loss of support.

I’m sure after yesterday’s flip-flop on her voting record, you’re preparing a new addition to the blog. Gregory hit it on the head. She moves whichever way the wind blows.

I am really excited we may have a true upstate rep who understands our hunting culture.
